    Abstract: A high-pressure fuel pump for internal combustion engines with direct injection includes a housing with a drive chamber in the housing and an eccentric shaft disposed in the drive chamber. A pumping element can be set into a reciprocating motion via the eccentric shaft. To lengthen the service life of the fluid pump the drive chamber in a region located ahead of the pumping element in terms of the direction of rotation of the eccentric shaft or camshaft, communicates with a lubricant relief region.
