  • Patent number: 4364444
Abstract: A temperature regulation system for use in an electric vehicle automatically provides for open-loop and closed-loop operation. In the closed-loop mode, air is forced through the electric motors of the vehicle, and is then delivered to selected components of the vehicle to keep them warm and dry. In the open-loop mode, outside air is allowed to enter the system to prevent overheating of critical components. The system is intended for use in an electric vehicle, such as a fork lift truck, which must alternate between operation in extremely cold environments and operation at normal temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4285626
Abstract: A fork lift truck is equipped with an attachment or fixture for handling a plate glass load. The truck is also equipped with a control system which includes sensing switch means for controlling automatically the operation of the truck to insure safe pick-up of the plate glass load. The control system also includes release switch means for preventing the truck from backing up, following deposit of a plate glass item at a storage area, until the plate glass load fixture has cleared the plate glass item.

  • Patent number: 4087776
Abstract: A control box is provided having a control shaft which projects from the box and is adapted to be connected, directly or by linkage, to the accelerator pedal of a battery-operated motor vehicle. Connected to the inward end of the control shaft is the movable arm of a potentiometer which is moved angularly to change the circuit resistance when the accelerator pedal is depressed. Mounted on the control shaft are a pair of cams, the followers rollers of which actuate a pair of microswitches which control a solid-state control system which controls the current delivered by the battery to the traction motor of the vehicle.
