  • Patent number: 5518646
Abstract: A solid detergent composition in the form of briquettes of compressed granular detergent material is provided, said composition comprising from 0.1 to 10% by weight of a polycarboxylated polymer and from 0.1 to 20% by weight of a watersoluble inorganic carrier material for said polymer, the bulk density of said composition ranging from 1000 to 2100 kg/m.sup.3. This composition was found to exhibit excellent compactibility and good anti-scaling properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 28, 1994
Date of Patent: May 21, 1996
Assignee: Lever Industrial Company, Division of Indopco, Inc.
Inventor: Guido C. Van den Brom
  • Patent number: 5366654
Abstract: Rinse aid compositions based on alkyl polyglycoside surfactants attack plastics, in particular polycarbonate, to a much lesser degree than rinse aid compositions based on other types of nonionic surfactants. It is preferred that the compositions also comprise an anti-foam agent, preferably a ketone having more than 25 carbon atoms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 1993
Date of Patent: November 22, 1994

  • Patent number: 4911860
Abstract: A detergent composition, suitably in bar or stick form, comprises synthetic surfactant and carrier system including polyalkylene glycol monoester. The polyalkylene glycol monoester suitably comprises one or more polyethylene glycol monoalkylesters and suitably has a mean molecular weight between 200 and 8000, more suitably between 1000 and 6000. The composition is appropriate for use as a pretreatment stick and can be applied to dry or wet laundry fabrics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1989
Date of Patent: March 27, 1990
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventor: Guido C. Van Den Brom
  • Patent number: 4298492
Abstract: By inclusion of an alkali metal soap and an alkanolamine in a liquid detergent composition which contains a mixture of sodium tripolyphosphate and tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, a stable liquid, both at 0.degree. C. and at 52.degree. C. is obtained, in the presence of a hydrotrope. This system can also incorporate hydrogen peroxide, without any detrimental effect on its chemical or physical stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 1980
Date of Patent: November 3, 1981
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventor: Guido C. van den Brom
  • Patent number: 4228043
Abstract: In a process for making an aqueous built liquid detergent composition comprising sodium tripolyphosphate and alkalimetal orthophosphate, the formation of alkalimetal orthophosphate in situ by neutralization may cause some sediment. This sediment formation is significantly reduced by the addition of a small amount of an alkanolamine such as triethanolamine to the liquid detergent composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 21, 1978
Date of Patent: October 14, 1980
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventor: Guido C. van den Brom
  • Patent number: 4153569
Abstract: A stable aqueous built liquid detergent composition is prepared comprising a potassium alkylbenzenesulphonate, a potassium fatty acid soap, a nonionic detergent material, a neutralized maleic anhydride copolymer, partially esterified with a nonionic detergent active, and sodium tripolyphosphate, wherein part of the sodium tripolyphosphate is replaced by tetrapotassium pyrophosphate.
