  • Patent number: 11427227
Abstract: A safety device for use in a vehicle which is configured to be operated at least intermittently in an automated driving mode, in which the vehicle drives in an automated manner, and which includes a first data source which is designed as a human machine interface and configured to output data about a driving status, including computing device and a first data interface, the safety device being configured to receive data about the driving status from the first data source via the first data interface, the safety device being configured to receive data about the driving status from a second data source different from the first data source, and the safety device being configured to output pieces of information about the driving status to a driver, using an information output device and based on the data received from the first data source and the second data source.

  • Patent number: 7437218
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a functional unit of a motor vehicle are provided. In the method, a function sequence is implemented in a functional program. The functional program is verified here by a safety program, which is in turn monitored by a monitoring module. Like the safety program, the functional program has a modular structure. The monitoring of the safety program is accordingly implemented in multiple stages corresponding to the number of modules.

  • Publication number: 20060106512
Abstract: A partially redundant, contactless pedal-travel sensor is used for controlling a vehicle. This pedal travel sensor generates at least two redundant signals using a contactless sensor and an electronic circuit. These signals are fed to a control and/or regulating unit, where they are subjected to a plausibility check to detect a faulty pedal-travel sensor. To improve safety during a failure of a pedal-travel sensor and to improve the diagnostic options, it is provided that a specific position of the pedal is detected by a switch and a signal is generated by the switch. Then a plausibility comparison of the signal generated by the switch with the signals generated by the pedal-travel sensor is performed.

  • Patent number: 6295501
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling a drive unit wherein at least one measurement signal quantity (U1) is detected. This measurement signal quantity (U1) has at least one end value and the control of the drive unit is undertaken in dependence thereon. Furthermore, a calibration value for this measurement quantity is pregiven and the measurement quantity is converted into a relative measurement quantity (wped) in dependence upon the calibration value. Several measurement signal quantity ranges are pregiven and that range is determined to which the end value of the measurement signal quantity is assigned. The calibration then takes place on the basis of a base value assigned to this region.
