Patent number: 10276334Abstract: It is proposed a liner arrangement for fitting a tubular insulator body in a circuit breaker. The liner arrangement includes a planar, electric-arc resistant and heat resistant liner layer comprising a first edge portion and a second edge portion that is located opposite the first edge portion, wherein the first edge portion has a first contour extending in a direction transversally to a plane defined by the planar liner layer. The second edge portion has a second contour having a geometry that is complementary to the first contour such that the first edge portion can be attached by way of a form fit to the second edge portion once the planar liner layer is bent to a tubular shape. Further, a circuit breaker including a liner arrangement and an insulator is described. A method for protecting an insulator body of a heat chamber insulator for a circuit breaker is also described.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2017Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: ABB Schweiz AGInventors: Guido Meier, Jean-Claude Mauroux

Patent number: 8790476Abstract: Mold-free resin-insulated coil windings are obtained by applying continuous fibers embedded in a quasi-solid-state epoxy-resin matrix, e.g. in the form of a tape, to the coil windings. The tape is locally heated up to the melting point of its polymer matrix, and is subsequently pressed against the winding body. The heated and fused resin of the tape, which is pressed onto the coil, flows under pressure into the voids and gaps between the coil windings and fills them up, thereby hermetically insulating the coil windings. After leaving the heating and pressing apparatus the fused epoxy resin becomes solid again. The resulting curing process is thus considerably simplified and shortened, compared to the state of the art.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2008Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: ABB Research Ltd.Inventors: Uwe Kaltenborn, Guido Meier, Stéphane Schaal, Jens Rocks

Patent number: 7514635Abstract: The shaft includes two electrically conducting connecting pieces (2, 3), which can be connected to different electric potentials, and also an insulating tube (4), which can be subjected to torsional loading. The two connecting pieces (2, 3) are respectively fastened to one of the two ends of the insulating tube (4). In order that the shaft can also transmit great torques, the following means are provided for fastening at least one of the two connecting pieces (2, 3): An adhesive joint (5), which is formed by a cone (6) formed into one end of the insulating tube (4) and made to run from the circumferential surface (7) to the inner surface (8) of the insulating tube (4) and also by a mating cone (9) formed into the at least one connecting piece (2, 3), and by a gap (10) formed by the cone (6) and mating cone (9) and filled with adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2004Date of Patent: April 7, 2009Assignee: ABB Research LtdInventors: Guido Meier, Leopold Ritzer, Stephane Page, Sanel Pidro, Markus Keller, Olaf Hunger, Marc Mollenkopf

Patent number: 7479610Abstract: An insulating part (20) is provided for a high voltage switch of a metal-enclosed circuit-breaker system and is executed as a pressure-gelated casting on the base of a polymeric composite material. It comprises a base-plate (21) with a centrally arranged large through-hole (23) for receiving a current terminal lead of the high voltage switch and with small through-holes (24, 25) for receiving fastening screws. The insulating part further comprises two bearing blocks (22) for receiving a shaft of a movable contact of a contact arrangement of the switch and at least a first collar (26) which surrounds the large through-hole (23). For reason of the execution as a pressure-gelated casting the insulating part (20) can be manufactured easily with low costs but with high precision. In general a finish-maching of the casting is not required.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2007Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Assignee: Abb Research LtdInventors: Guido Meier, Jean-Claude Mauroux, Leopold Ritzer
