  • Patent number: 4721136
Abstract: A binding comb shaping device for producing profile-bent binding combs for comb binding of sheet layers has rotary bending tools with bending sliding edges and/or in the form of rolling members, which, between advance cycles of the binding comb blank, move past shaping edges of shaping anvils in arcuate paths and thereby in a substantially vibration-free manner and at high working speeds give the binding comb blank its profile shape.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 1986
Date of Patent: January 26, 1988
Assignee: bielomatik Leuze GmbH & Co.
    Inventor: Guido Negro
  • Patent number: 4509396
Abstract: A tool for punching relatively thick paper stacks, comprises a cylindrical, hollow punch with a cutting edge on its front outer edge. Processing takes place in the manner of a punching operation against a bearing surface, which has a hole corresponding to tool with a counterpunch arranged centrally therein. A blade is arranged in the resulting annular gap in order to separate punching waste which has been pressed into said annular gap and in order to permit the removal thereof.

  • Patent number: 4351371
Abstract: An apparatus for introducing a coiled binding wire directly into a row of holes in a pack of sheets comprises a pneumatic motor connected directly to a winding spindle which coils the binding wire and introduces the coil into the row of holes, the motor driving the spindle intermittently. A valve for controlling the air supply to the motor is arranged fast therewith.

  • Patent number: 4300406
Abstract: An apparatus for driving a plurality of units, in particular processing units on paper processing machines, which are arranged on the machine in the shape of a star. To allow the drive mechanism to be constructed more simply and more cheaply, but nevertheless to maintain the synchronism, the drive is effected from a shaft via a cam, crank or eccentric drive means and an actuating rod. The actuating rod causes a pivotally mounted actuator which is common to all units to oscillate to and fro, the actuator in turn bearing cams or crank pins and driving the units via tappets or cranks. The cams can be arranged in one or more rows and can also be exchangeable.

  • Patent number: 4267865
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for producing coils in the course of a process for the production of binding coils which are to be introduced directly into a row of holes in a pack of sheets. The apparatus has a winding spindle which is surrounded by the coil produced, from which the coil lifts when the front end of the coil is stopped, the winding spindle being driven continuously. A cutting device, for example in the form of scissors is provided for cutting the coil. A device for stopping the front end of the coil periodically is provided between the winding spindle and the cutting device, the stopping device being arranged to operate with a timing correlated with the operation of the cutting device.

  • Patent number: 4141099
Abstract: A pad is made by inserting a comb through a row of holes along the spine of the pad, which has been assembled with a relatively stiff backing leaf overlying a cover leaf and curving the comb teeth over to form a closure joint between the ends of the teeth and the back of the comb. The binding apparatus includes a turn-over device for turning over the stiff backing leaf so that the latter now underlies the pad with the closure joint lying between the penultimate (or last normal) leaf of the pad and the now underlying backing leaf.
