  • Patent number: 10060318
Abstract: A method for operating a driving system having an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas purifying device through which exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine flows in order to be purified. The exhaust gas purifying device has at least one catalyst element for catalytic conversion of nitrogen monoxide into nitrogen dioxide at a determined conversion rate. In order to compensate for an age related decrease in the conversion rate of the catalyst element the nitrogen monoxide emission from the internal combustion engine and/or the exhaust gas temperature before the catalyst element are adjusted as a function of the current conversion rate and/or the age of the catalyst element so that the nitrogen dioxide concentration after the catalyst element is greater than or equal to a minimum concentration and/or that the molar ratio between nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide after the catalyst element corresponds to a predetermined ratio.

  • Publication number: 20180187588
Abstract: A method for operating an exhaust gas aftertreatment system, having the following steps: determining a permissible energy input into at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment element of the exhaust gas aftertreatment system; ascertaining a current energy input into the at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment element by ascertaining at least one energy input variable which characterizes the current energy input; and actuating an adjusting device which varies a distribution of an exhaust gas mass flow to the at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment element and a bypass path that runs about the at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment element depending on the permissible energy input and the current energy input.

  • Patent number: 9779218
Abstract: In a method for a model-based determination of a temperature distribution of an exhaust gas post-treatment unit, a differentiation is made between steady operating states and non-steady operating states by taking into account the axial and the radial temperature distribution, and, on the basis of virtual segmentation of the post-treatment unit, in particular the radial heat transfer to the surroundings is taken into account in the model-based determination for steady operating states, and for non-steady operating states the heat transfer from the exhaust gas which flows axially through the post-treatment unit to the segments is taken into account by a heat transfer coefficient k.

  • Publication number: 20160123259
Abstract: A method for an exhaust-gas treatment system having a diesel particle filter, in particular for the operation of an internal combustion engine having an exhaust-gas treatment system, in particular an internal combustion engine including a motor. The method includes the steps of: operating the diesel particle filter, in particular with regular regeneration; and determining a present soot loading of the diesel particle filter. Provision is made for a comparison of the present soot loading with a predetermined soot loading reference value to be performed and, if the soot loading reference value is undershot, for the soot particle loading in the diesel particle filter to be increased in order to adhere to the demanded emission limit value for the number of soot particles.
