    Abstract: A method for positioning a cam element on a shaft segment of a camshaft with an assembly aid element may comprise arranging the shaft segment relative to a first tool such that a first distal shaft segment end of the shaft segment lies flush against a surface of the tool that is directed towards the shaft segment; arranging the cam element on the shaft segment in a pre-position; arranging a first distal end of the assembly aid element to contact the surface of the first tool that is directed towards the shaft segment such that the assembly aid element forms a defined distance to the first tool along a shaft-segment longitudinal axis; and moving a second tool at least in sections along the longitudinal axis until the second tool contacts a second distal end of the assembly aid element, and pushing the cam element by means of the second tool to a final position.

    Abstract: A camshaft that is assembled or is to be assembled carries at least one cam element that is to be disposed on a main camshaft body to be rotationally fixed and axially movable, and at least one cam element to be disposed on the main camshaft body so as to be rotationally fixed and axially immovable. The main camshaft body has first axial sub-sections having a multi-tooth profile, so that due to a positive connection between shaft and hub the cam element to be disposed in the sub-section so as to be axially movable is seated so as to be rotationally fixed. The inner shaft cams are non-rotatably attached to the inner shaft by at least one connection element that protrudes with clearance through an aperture in the outer shaft and is attached to the respective inner shaft cam which is rotatably mounted on the outer shaft. When inserted into a receiver in the inner shaft, a portion of the connection element protrudes out of the receiver, and the protruding portion is at least partially inserted into an aperture located at the joint diameter of the inner shaft cam. This aperture is open at least towards an end face of the inner shaft cam. The protruding portion has at least two opposite-lying side surfaces lying with an interference fit against corresponding inner surfaces of the aperture of the inner shaft cam.
