  • Patent number: 8347943
Abstract: Diecasting tool for the production of a cylinder crankcase (2), comprising a salt core (4) and at least one cylinder sleeve (6), wherein the cylinder sleeve (6) comprises an upper end (8) on the cylinder head side, and a lower end (10) on the crankshaft side, and the cylinder sleeve (6) is supported on at least one center sleeve that is disposed on the diecasting tool, and the salt core (4) at least partially surrounds the cylinder sleeve (6) in the manner of a cladding, wherein the salt core (4) comprises a crown (12) that at least partially bears on one of the ends (8, 10) of the cylinder sleeve (6), and the core (4) comprising openings (14) that extend vertically beneath the end (8) of the cylinder sleeve (6) on the cylinder head side.

  • Publication number: 20110174246
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a light metal or plastic cylinder crankcase (2) of an internal combustion engine having a closed-deck design, comprising the steps of —casting a cylinder liner (4) using salt cores (6) corresponding at least to the cavities of the water jackets, —encapsulating the pre-cast cylinder liner in a pressure die-casting process in a light metal melt in order to achieve the cylinder crankcase (2) having a closed-deck design, wherein the cylinder liner (4) still contains the salt cores (6) at least in the water jackets during encapsulation.

  • Publication number: 20060124082
Abstract: The invention relates to a diecast cylinder crankcase into which a liner (4) consisting of a plurality of cylinder sleeves is cast. Said liner (4) is produced by sandcasting and is placed in the diecasting mould. The liner (4) comprises an at least partially closed water jacket (6) which can optionally comprise cooling channels (10) in the connecting section (12).

  • Publication number: 20040129047
Abstract: In a tool and a method having a system for monitoring the operability of the tool, a shank-like section is provided with a tool section subjected to wear and is equipped with a cavity, to which a pressure medium is admitted for monitoring the operability of the tool, the shank-like section having a predetermined breaking point, and a monitoring device being provided, by which a signal of failure may be generated in the event of a pressure change.

  • Patent number: 6523600
Abstract: A die casting machine has a divisible die casting tool. To be able to die cast in a secure manner large die-cast parts beyond elasticity-caused limits of the machine construction, the locking pressures for the die casting tool are transmitted by tool-integrated tie rods into a power flux circuit remaining within the die casting tool. In the closed condition of the die casting tool, the tie rods can be anchored in a tension proof manner on both sides of its mold parting surface in the die casting tool and, for the opening, can be detached at least from one of the tool parts of the die casting tool. For limiting the flow paths of the molten mass, several casting cylinders for feeding the casting material into the casting mold are distributed thereon so that the casting mold can be filled simultaneously from several points.

  • Patent number: 6214478
Abstract: Methods for casting thin-walled structural elements made of alloy for automobile bodies using the diecasting, thixocasting, or thixoforming methods, as well as corresponding structural elements are described. In order to produce by these methods in particular body side wall parts including the A, B and C pillars, the castings are cast in several casting slices. The casting slices of a casting are cast, staggered timewise in succession using the same method and from the same alloy but in different casting molds or different parts of a casting mold. At the seams, the casting slices are cast together along a defined shapewise contour. The casting slices can be case together indirectly with interposition of a separate seam strip. However, they can also be cast onto one another, with an already cast first casting slice being placed in a second casting mold and cast together therein with the second casting slice.

Complete body side wall parts are cast in three casting slices, with the seams being located in the roof and sill areas.
