  • Publication number: 20170114839
Abstract: A dual actuation synchronizing clutch assembly including an improved synchronization arrangement is provided. The dual actuation synchronizing clutch assembly has a plurality of operational phases, including initial, synchronization, positioning, engagement, and running phases that vary the torque flow path between the input shaft and output shaft. A synchronizing assembly is provided that includes a synchronizer ring having a first friction surface and synchronizer teeth. A connecting gear includes a lock-up assembly with retractable elements and connecting gear teeth. An output gear includes a second friction surface configured to frictionally engage the first friction surface of the synchronizer ring, and a contoured receiving path with positioning points configured to receive the retractable elements of the lock-up assembly.

  • Patent number: 9334907
Abstract: A clutch, having an outer race, an inner race, a wedge plate radially arranged between the outer race and the inner race and including an outer circumferential surface, an inner circumferential surface, and a radially continuous space connecting the outer circumferential surface and the inner circumferential surface, and a locking assembly including a displaceable locking component. For a free-wheel mode, the inner and outer races are rotatable with respect to each other. For a locking mode, the locking component is displaceable within the radially disposed space of the wedge plate to engage the wedge plate to radially expand the wedge plate and non-rotatably connect the inner race, the wedge plate, and the outer race.

  • Patent number: 9222508
Abstract: A bearing race encapsulation apparatus, which has a spring assembly integrated into a hearing that allows the hearing to compensate for varying expansions and contractions caused by differences in temperature. The bearing race encapsulation apparatus includes an outer bearing ring with an end face and an outer face with a indent formed in the outer face. An encapsulation ring, which has a retention element that is snapped into the indent of the outer bearing ring, a first segment that extends axially outwardly from the retention element, and a second segment that extends radially inwardly from the first segment. A spring is arranged axially between the second segment of the encapsulation ring and the outer bearing ring to compensate for the expansion and contraction.

  • Patent number: 8905643
Abstract: A thermal compensation element which has an inner ring, an outer ring, and a washer. The washer is arranged within the inner ring and the outer ring is mounted over the inner ring, encapsulating the washer, which can be a split wave spring. The inner ring and the outer ring each have retention features to ensure they are retained relative to each other. The thermal compensation, which is positioned between a housing or a shaft, can account for variations in loading and/or temperature that may occur to a bearing and a shaft system when the shaft and an associated component are made of different materials and have different coefficients of thermal expansion by ensuring a proper axial preload is maintained on the bearing.

  • Patent number: 8684608
Abstract: A rolling bearing, which has at least one bearing ring and at least one lash compensation element possessing temperature-dependent extendibility arranged on the bearing ring. The rolling bearing has ring profile, which at least partially surrounds the lash compensation clement. The ring profile has at least one hollow cylindrical section oriented axially parallel to an axis of rotation of the rolling bearing and at least one radially oriented disk section. Also, at least one slit is formed in the ring profile.

  • Patent number: 8591120
Abstract: A rolling bearing which has at least one lash compensation element possessing temperature-dependent extendably arranged on one bearing ring of the rolling bearing. The lash compensation element is surrounded at least partially by an angular ring profile. The angular ring profile has at least one leg directed axially parallel to an axis of rotation of the angular contact roller bearing. The ring profile is retained by the leg by positive axial engagement for limited axial movement on the bearing ring such that the lash compensation element is supported by the ring profile by positive engagement so as to be radially immovable on the bearing ring while being guided for axial movement on the bearing ring.
