  • Publication number: 20050204670
Abstract: A wood shingle panel of a given length for use to cover a wall or a roof. The panel is made of a plurality of wood shingles positioned in adjacent relationship to form a row. These wood shingles are attached to a slat consisting of a metal sheet of inverted J cross-section that extends along the length of the panel at a given distance below the top edges of the wood shingles rearwardly of the same. The slat made of a metal sheet has a main wall punched in such a way as to form a plurality of spaced apart spikes which act as nails to attach the wood shingles onto the slat when the main wall of the slat is applied and pressed onto the row of wood shingles. The metal slat also has an inverted U-shaped top wall that projects externally on top of the main wall when the wood shingles are attached to it. This inverted U-shaped top wall is sized to receive and hook onto the top edges of the wood shingles of a similar wood shingle panels positioned below.

  • Publication number: 20040074189
Abstract: Disclosed are wood pieces for use to manufacture wood panels. Each of these wood pieces has an upper surface, a lower surface and two opposite sidewalls. Tongues and grooves or hooks and notches are provided on the opposite sidewalls of each of the wood pieces in such a way that (1) there is at least one tongue or hook on each sidewall and at least one corresponding groove or notch on the other sidewall and (2) the tongues or hooks on the tongues or hooks on the opposite sidewalls are positioned at a same height between the upper and lower surfaces of each wood piece, and the grooves or notches are positioned at another same height selected as a function of the one where stand the tongues or hooks.

  • Patent number: 6701690
Abstract: The I-shaped wooden beam has two elongated chords extending in parallel relationship and blocks, struts or a web extending between the chords. Each of the chords is made of two pieces of wood having adjacent surfaces that are in contact and extend in parallel relationship with respect to the blocks, struts or web over the corresponding opposite end thereof. The two pieces of wood also have tongues and grooves positioned close to their adjacent surfaces and sized to match with opposite tongues and grooves made on the corresponding opposite end of the blocks, struts or web. These two pieces of wood are rigidly connected to each other and to blocks, struts or web so as to form an unitary structure of I-shape.

  • Publication number: 20020148172
Abstract: A separable wood shim assembly for providing wood shims of selectable width is provided. The assembly has two wedge-shaped wood shims superposed so that they taper along a same direction. A breakable connector, such as a thin strip of wood, joins the contiguous surfaces of both shims. In this manner, the assembly my be used easily as either a simple or double-width shim. There are also provided a bundle of wood shim assemblies, a convenient bag to wrap this bundle and an advantageous method to make the wood shim assemblies.
