  • Publication number: 20110065786
Abstract: The present invention provides new strategies for the synthesis of compounds of the rocaglamide family and related natural products. In particular, the new biomimetic synthetic approach involves photochemical generation of an oxidopyrylium species from a 3-hydroxychromone derivative followed by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of the oxidopyrylium species to a dipolarophile. This approach can be used for the formation of adducts containing an aglain core structure. Methods for the conversion of aglain core structures to aglain, rocaglamide and forbaglin ring systems are also provided. The present invention also relates to the use of rocaglamide/aglain/forbaglin derivatives for the manufacture of medicaments for use in the treatment of cancer or cancerous conditions, disorders associated with cellular hyperproliferation, or NF-?B-dependent conditions.

  • Publication number: 20050178841
Abstract: The present invention relates to both a system and method for product and document authentication. The system used herein comprises one or more inks, at least one of which is either invisible to the naked eye or is fluorescent or luminescent, an optical (2, 3, 8) scanning component capable of detecting the signals emitted by all of said inks, and an information technology component for analyzing said signals. Given the large number of combinations of dyes, sizes and shapes of the markings made with said dyes, the ability to change the type, size and shape for the marking (5) for a given product, and the ability to keep track of the dyes and markings used for a given product, the system allows a nearly foolproof system for product authentication. The method involves the above system, or other combinations of inks, for authenticating a given product.

  • Patent number: 6402986
Abstract: This patent disclosure describes novel compositions and methods used in the verification of products or documents based on the reading of emitted light from luminescent compositions that can be incorporated or applied to a wide variety of materials. Specifically, the compositions are uniquely luminescent at various wavelengths, displaying qualities of image, wavelength, and time scale for the measure of luminesce decay. The light emitted from the composition, and specifically, the measure of the variable and adjustable luminescence lifetimes provides a multi-parameter signature for purposes of comparative light decay analysis of verification marks or features.

  • Patent number: 5100928
Abstract: Described herein are photopolymerizable compositions comprising at least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated compound, and an initiating combination of an organic soluble xanthene dye compound and an organic activator compound. These compositions are useful as radiation-curable coatings, photocurable films, and photoactive films.
