Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of creating and managing a virtual universe, enabling a plurality of users simultaneous and interactive access to the virtual universe via a network. A common system of coordinates is associated with the virtual universe and with virtual spaces contained therein. The method includes defining at least two distinct virtual spaces of the virtual universe. For each distinct virtual space, data is stored on a network server. The data comprises data enabling the distinct virtual space, to be characterized intrinsically, as well as data containing network addresses of virtual spaces adjacent to the respective distinct virtual space.
