  • Patent number: 10850736
Abstract: An example, described herein, involves monitoring an operating input of a vehicle; determining a turning maneuver is to be performed by the vehicle with a decreased turn radius based on the operating input; determining that a transmission of the vehicle is to be downshifted to a low gear to enable the vehicle to perform the turning maneuver; and downshifting the transmission to the low gear.

  • Publication number: 20170175867
Abstract: A hydro-mechanical transmission assembly includes a hydrostatic pump-motor assembly having a variable displacement hydrostatic pump. The pump has a primary input shaft configured to be operatively driven by a prime mover. The hydrostatic pump-motor assembly also includes a hydraulic motor fluidly coupled to and operatively driven by the hydrostatic pump. The motor has a primary output shaft that is bi-directionally rotatable with change in displacement of the pump. The primary output shaft is coupled to a secondary input shaft of a multi-speed transmission, wherein the multi-speed transmission includes one of: a counter-shaft transmission system, a multi-stage planetary gear set, and a power-shift transmission system that includes a combination of the counter-shaft transmission system and the multi-stage planetary gear set. This way, a secondary output shaft of the multi-speed transmission is configured to operate with discrete speed ratios in relation to the primary output shaft of the hydraulic motor.

  • Patent number: 9216741
Abstract: An engine control system is provided where the engine control system includes a torque converter, an engine connected to the torque converter, a transmission connected to the torque converter, a lock-up clutch housed in the torque converter wherein the lock-up clutch is configured to mechanically connect the engine and the transmission when the lock-up clutch is engaged, an engine speed sensor configured to obtain a prior engine speed which is measured prior to engagement of the lock-up clutch, a transmission speed sensor configured to obtain a prior transmission speed which is measured prior to the engagement of the lock-up clutch, and an engine control module configured to determine a desired engine speed at a speed lower than the prior engine speed and adjust a speed of the engine to the desired engine speed just prior to the movement of the lock-up clutch for the engagement or as the lock-up clutch moves toward the engagement.

  • Publication number: 20120123652
Abstract: A drive system for a mobile machine is disclosed. The drive system may have an engine, a mechanical step-change transmission operatively connected to and driven by the engine, and a controller in communication with the engine and the mechanical step-change transmission. The controller may be configured to receive a first operator input to store as a target a current groundspeed of the mobile machine and a current gear selection of the mechanical step-change transmission, and receive a second operator input to recall the target when at least one of the groundspeed of the mobile machine and the gear selection of the mechanical step-change transmission is different from the target. The controller may further be configured to adjust a speed of the engine and a gear selection of the mechanical step-change transmission to achieve the recalled target.
