  • Publication number: 20240390303
Abstract: A method of increasing production of one or more lipoxins in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an amount of a compound having the structure: or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof, so as to thereby increase production of the one or more lipoxins in the subject.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 21, 2024
    Publication date: November 28, 2024
Inventors: Guirong Wang, Xu Yongan, Ying Gu, Hsi-ming Lee, Lorne M. Golub, Francis Johnson, Yongan Xu
  • Patent number: 11357786
Abstract: Synthetic disaccharide hydrocarbons (DSHs) that reactive bacterials swarming motility and inhibit bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation. A library of DSHs were tested in several experiment for the impact on various Pseudomonas aeruginosa populations and compared against existing compounds to determine efficacy and utility. Certain DSHs were also to determine the ability to clear bacteria in a mouse pneumonia model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 2, 2020
Date of Patent: June 14, 2022
Assignees: Syracuse University, The Research Foundation for the State University of New York
    Inventors: Yan-Yeung Luk, Guirong Wang

  • Patent number: 6998384
Abstract: A means and method for treating pulmonary fibrosis in animals is described. The compositions include surfactant lipids in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Surfactant lipids have been found to suppress the synergistic effect of bleomycin and SP-A in enhancing proinflammatory cytokine production. Surfactant lipids are also effective in the prevention and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis resulting from exposure to inflammatory agents affecting cytokine production.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 2002
Date of Patent: February 14, 2006
Assignee: The Penn State Research Foundation
Inventors: Joanna Floros, David S. Phelps, Hamid A. Al-Mondhiry, Weixiong Huang, Guirong Wang
