The scintillator according to an embodiment of the present invention has a formula TlaLabXc:yCe, and in the formula: X is a halogen element; a=1, b=2, c=7, or a=2, b=1, c=5, or a=3, b=1, c=6; and y>0 and y?0.5. The scintillator according to an embodiment of the present invention has a high efficiency of detecting radiations, a greater light yield, and an excellent fluorescence decay time characteristic.
