  • Publication number: 20090283998
Abstract: The airbag of the vehicle according to the present invention can suppress initial deployment of a cushion and minimize injury of an occupant caused by a pressure upon deployment of the cushion since outer tethers covering the outer side of the cushion are sewn and coupled to the cushion at a plurality of positions and a plurality of sewing portions are adapted to be sequentially broken according a deployment pressure of the cushion. Therefore, injury of an occupant in an OOP (Out-of-Position) condition can be prevented. Furthermore, the airbag can optimally cope with various collision modes because the outer tethers are formed in plural number and the sewing strength of the plurality of outer tethers can be adjusted. Furthermore, deviation in the performance of the outer tethers can be decreased compared to a tear line because the outer tethers are sewn to the cushion and the sewing portions are broken by a deployment pressure of the cushion.

  • Patent number: 7121583
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an airbag device including a tether attached to an airbag for determining an expansion shape of the airbag. The tether is formed in such a manner that the expansion length of the middle part of an airbag is shorter than the expansion length of both side edges of the airbag when the airbag is expanded, whereby direct contact between the chest or the head of a passenger and the airbag is prevented. Consequently, the passenger is not injured by a punch-out-force created by sudden expansion in the central region of the airbag when the expansion of the airbag is initiated. In addition, the passenger is not subjected to the pressure of the airbag, and the passenger is nestled in the airbag, whereby the passenger is not out of the protection range of the airbag even when a vehicle is rocked from side to side after the airbag has been expanded.

  • Patent number: 6840535
Abstract: Disclosed is an airbag for a vehicle capable of minimizing gas leakage in an early stage through gas discharge holes in a housing when spreading an air cushion. In both sides opposite to a first housing, the gas discharge holes are formed for emitting gas. A retainer on whose upper surface is fixed the air cushion, and in whose both sides are formed a coupling having coupling holes corresponding to the gas discharge holes, is provided. This coupling part is coupled to the first housing through the coupling device. The gas discharge holes are made lengthwise to make it possible to move the retainer up and down. As a result, when reading the air cushion, some of the holes are opened by movement of the coupling part. Besides, the coupling holes reformed in the lower side of the coupling part, so when not spreading the air cushion, the gas discharge holes are kept closed by the coupling part.

  • Patent number: 6215246
Abstract: An electrode structure of a PDP (plasma display panel) and its manufacturing method, where the production cost is curtailed with the extension of life by forming a protection layer of excellent properties and low cost on an insulating substrate during the manufacture of the panel. The structure comprises two substrates coupled in parallel with each other by frit glass. One of the two substrates has sustain electrodes. One or more dielectric layers are formed over the sustain electrodes, and an interfacial reaction preventive layer and a protection layer are formed over the dielectric layers. The other substrate has address electrodes arranged thereon. A lower dielectric layer is formed over the address electrodes. Barriers coated with phosphor are formed between the upper and lower substrates. The protection layer may be deposited in a multilayered form by a spin coating method.
