Abstract: A method of delegating user domain management authority is disclosed to provide flexible and continuous user domain management. According to this method, user domain management authority may be delegated from a first device in the user domain to a second device in the user domain. Delegation of user domain management authority may be performed through consultation with a delegation agent such that delegation may occur when the first device having user domain management authority is lost, unavailable, or otherwise inoperable by a user. Delegation of user domain management authority may include transferring user domain management information, such as user domain policy, user domain master key, and user domain key chain, from the first device to the second device. Once the second device receives user domain management information, user domain management authority of the first device may be discharged and notice may be sent to devices in the user domain.
