    Abstract: A mat locking strip (20) for being attached to an edge portion of a mat (10) and for interconnecting a plurality of mats (10) is provided. The locking strip (20) comprises: a longitudinally extending body (30) having a top side (31) and a bottom side (32), each side (31, 32) comprising a plurality of protruding ridges (34) defining intermediate trenches (36), the ridges (34) having a continuous extension along the longitudinal extension of the body (30); the body (30) having a first end configured to be arranged closest to the mat (10) and a second end configured to be arranged farthest away from the mat (10); wherein the ridges (34) of the top side (31) of the body (30) are arranged opposite the trenches (36) of the bottom side (32) of the body (30), and the trenches (36) of the top side (31) of the body (30) are arranged opposite the ridges (34) of the bottom side (32) of the body (30).

The arrangement comprises at least two mats whose lower side, in or adjacent the corners of the mats, first Velcro strips or the like are attached. The arrangement further comprises second Velcro straps or strips or the like having opposite fastening means, linking together the first Velcro strips or patches of adjoining mats, arranged edge-to-edge. The back of the mats if formed with a patterned depression of a considerable extent.

    Abstract: A method for reusing loose, rejected or scrapped mats (1) of the type having a compact rubber-cloth backing (2) with a textile pile (3) incorporated therein, as well as a circumferential, pile-free backing edge portion (4, 4'), is disclosed. After optionally shaving off pile to produce the circumferential, pile-free backing edge portion, two such mats of essentially the same size, or one such mat and a pile-free rubber cloth of essentially the same size, are put together with the pile sides facing one another, or with the pile side facing the rubber cloth. Then, the edge portions (4, 4') are attached to one another throughout the entire circumference in an air-entrapping manner, whereby to obtain a mat especially suited for use on working sites or in industry.
