Abstract: The invention relates to a data-registration device for data-processing units, in particular for the registration of multi-dimensional coordinates. Said devices serve for the recognition or input of data defining a movement and/or a position in a multi-dimensional space. According to the invention, the data-registration device consists of a stand, a retainer element mounted on the stand such as to be displaced in at least two directions, an operating ball mounted in the retainer element such as to be rotated but not displaced, of which two at least partly diametrically opposed ball segment sections may be gripped with thumb and forefinger of one hand by the user, several sensors for registering the displacement of the retainer element and the rotation of the operating ball, and an interface unit that transmits the data provided by the sensors to the connected data-processing unit.
