    Abstract: A drive apparatus for an isolator switch includes a motor and a gear mechanism. The gear mechanism has a drive shaft which can be driven in two opposite directions of rotation by the motor and the gear mechanism has an output shaft. A load torque lock prevents transmission of a load torque which acts on the output shaft to the drive shaft in either direction of rotation. An isolator switch with a drive apparatus is also provided.

    Abstract: A charging mechanism charges a stored-energy spring of a stored-energy spring mechanism. The charging mechanism contains a charging gear coupled to the stored-energy spring, an intermediate shaft coupled to the charging gear, an idler gear, a freewheel coupled to the idler gear, a locking mechanism for releasably locking the charging gear in a charged state of the stored-energy spring, and a dog clutch that couples the freewheel to the intermediate shaft to charge the stored-energy spring and uncouples same from the intermediate shaft in the charged state of the stored-energy spring. The dog clutch contains a first clutch block that is non-rotatably coupled to the intermediate shaft, a second clutch block connected to the freewheel, and a synchronizer ring disposed between the clutch blocks and is non-rotatably coupled to the first clutch block, the synchronizer ring is pressed against the second clutch block when the dog clutch is closed.

A press block is fixed to the drive gear, the press block being capable of pushing the push rod to slide axially, so as to unlock or lock the bushing and the gear shaft. A gas insulated circuit breaker using such a clutch mechanism is also disclosed.

The path of movement for the lower supporting element runs substantially perpendicular to the path of movement of the upper supporting element.
