  • Patent number: 6490956
Abstract: A feeding apparatus of a moved body includes: a base; a rotatable long ball screw extending in a longitudinal direction of the base; a nut member engaged with the long ball screw; a moved body mounted to the nut member; a pair of drive shafts arranged in parallel to the long ball screw and being provided with a ball screw; driving and transmitting members connecting both outer end portions of each of the drive shafts to both ends of the long ball screw; drive motors connected to both inner end portions of each of the drive shafts; and an intermediate support supporting the long ball screw and each of the drive shafts. The intermediate support is provided with a nut member which is engaged with the ball screw. Therefore, the intermediate support is moved in a longitudinal direction by rotation of the long ball screw.

  • Patent number: 6321883
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated brake is provided comprising a magnetic body, which can energized electromagnetically to produce a magnetic force, and a brake rotor which is mounted on a shaft, in particular the drive shaft of an electric motor, in a rotationally stable manner, so that the shaft can be braked. A spring-loaded armature plate is mounted on the shaft and is movable axially parallel to the long axis of the shaft by the magnetic force produced in the magnetic body against the force of its spring loading whereby in a braked state the armature plate is apposed to the braking surface of the brake rotor. Disposed between the armature plate and the magnetic body or between the armature plate and the brake rotor are first and second dampers to attenuate oscillations of the brake. The first and second damper are located adjacent one another in the axial direction of the shaft and each comprises a material different from that of the other.

  • Patent number: 5857902
Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for separating sausages from a string of sausages linked by connecting portions and comprises a conveyor system including at least two conveyors connected in series and comprising upper and lower belts, between which the sausage string is held. The apparatus further comprises a sensing device and cutting means controlled by the sensing device. In order to ensure reliable operation of the apparatus at high speeds and when sausages are misshapen, the connecting portion detection is improved by driving the downstream conveyor at a higher speed than the upstream conveyor so effecting a stretching of the sausage string as it is transferred from one to the other and by using two photosensing detectors mutually spaced along the conveyor and adapted to signal the detection of a connecting portion when the downstream detector registers a low light value and the upstream detector registers a high light value.

  • Patent number: 5848754
Abstract: A method and apparatus serve to packaging material and its contents, specifically from packaging elements filled with soft material such as food packaging. The method allows a clean separation of the packaging and content materials so that, according to the application, each of these materials can be reused individually with substantially no further preparation. The apparatus comprises a combination of a coarse cutter in the form of a shredder and a soft separator working on the drum and pressing belt principle with a further fine cutter or fragmenter in the form of a blower mill arranged downstream of these. By coarsely cutting the packaging materials prior to compression, cavities in which amounts of contents material may remain trapped cannot be formed, the soft separator can thus operate more effectively to cleanly separate the two materials.

  • Patent number: 5531799
Abstract: An improved ceramic corundum abrasive is achieved by addition of tin. Preparation is preferably by the sol-gel process, with further modifying components such as magnesium, lithium, cobalt, yttrium, hafnium, iron, rare earths, gamma-aluminium oxide already being present in the sol.

  • Patent number: 5034360
Abstract: A process for the production of a ceramic polycrystalline abrasive by the sol/gel method is characterized in that an intermediate containing aluminium hydroxide is mixed, dried, calcined and sintered with a further intermediate having different degradation properties. The further intermediate is expediently formed from a calcined aluminium hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 4860750
Abstract: A connector for a lead of a tissue stimulator such as a cardiac pacer uses a wedging element to fix the lead against inadvertent withdrawal from the pacer header. A wedge member is received in a channel which intersects a bore in the header in which the lead is inserted for connection with a pulse generator. When the wedging member is pressed into its channel, as by simple finger pressure, it engages the lead off-axis, e.g. along a tangent, and forces the lead into tight engagement with the sidewall of the header bore. A present embodiment is adapted for use with a lead which has a deformable covering. The wedge member has a concavity formed therein within which the lead seats. A first end of the wedge member has an upraised portion which is hump-shaped. This upraised portion first cams the lead into engagement with the bore sidewall, and then passes beyond the lead by deforming the lead covering. The lead then seats in the concavity.

  • Patent number: 4411626
Abstract: An apparatus and process for use in preparing a crown portion to be affixed on a tooth stump is described. A model of the tooth stump is clamped to remain immobile and scanned with a scanning head attached to a numerically controlled processing machine. Data from the scanning head indicative of the contour of the tooth stump is stored in a computer memory. From this data a contour for a casting model used to make a crown portion is calculated and stored in the computer memory. Molding material, such as wax, is placed on the tooth stump and a contour tool attached to the numerically controlled processing machine processes the molding material to produce the casting model using the calculated data. The casting model may then be used to produce a crown portion which may be further finished with a contour tool coupled to the numerically controlled processing machine using the calculated data from the computer memory.

  • Patent number: 4330276
Abstract: To reproduce jaw movements, electric distance measuring devices are fixed at the lower jaw and the upper jaw in the mouth of a patient to measure, with relative movements between upper and lower jaws, the distances between defined points of the two jaws and to supply the data to a memory. In accordance with the recorded measuring data a mobile portion of an articulator carrying a jaw model is so guided that it reproduces the recorded sequence of motion, the combinations of the measured distances between the defined points of lower jaw and upper jaw being repeated in the same way as in the measuring operation.
