  • Patent number: 6582781
Abstract: A platelet-shaped cholesteric multilayer pigment which comprises the layer sequence A1/B/A2 where A1 and A2 are identical or different and each comprise at least one cholesteric layer, and B is at least one interlayer which separates the layers A1 and A2 from one another and which absorbs all or some of the light transmitted by the layers A1 and A2, processes for its preparation, and its use are all described.

  • Patent number: 6410130
Abstract: Improved cholesteric special-effect layers are obtainable by comminuting cholesteric layers. These cholesteric layers are produced by applying at least one layer of a reactive, pourable cholesteric mixture to a moving substrate, by casting, and forming a solid cholesteric layer.

  • Patent number: 4709288
Abstract: An adjusting means for tape guide elements or magnetic heads effects adjustment exclusively in a plane at right angles to a reference surface. A fine adjustment mechanism, in particular a micrometer screw device, provides high accuracy of adjustment over a sufficiently wide range. The adjusting means can be used in any kind of magnetic tape cassette. Advantageous embodiments of such magnetic tape cassettes also form part of the present invention. By using the novel adjusting means, azimuth and skew losses can be compensated for in a simple manner.

  • Patent number: 4541587
Abstract: The invention relates to a hub for magnetic tape cassettes, especially compact cassettes, and to magnetic tape cassettes possessing such hubs. In a first embodiment, spring means are provided on the inner periphery of the hub and exert radial pressures on the drive spindle, the spring means consisting, for example, of sprung teeth. In a further embodiment, the teeth have a spring rate of from about 1 P/mm to 40 P/mm. In another embodiment, the hub consists of an inner part and an outer part which can be coupled to one another and between which there is some play after coupling. A large number of specific examples of hubs are given to show possible shapes and arrangements of the teeth, and to show the types of material that can be used. In an advantageous embodiment, the inner part of the two-part hub can also be made a part of the drive spindle on the recorder, which inner part can be coupled with the outer part when the drive spindle enters the cassette.

  • Patent number: 4396169
Abstract: A container for two rolls of tape-like material, especially a magnetic tape cassette, includes, as braking means, two curved levers which project from the container, are connected together and can be released from outside the container. In a special embodiment according to the invention, the container is a protective holder for two rolls of tape-like material, which holder can be used in a precision cassette housing for operation on a transport apparatus. The braking means provide the greatest possible protection for the rolls of tape-like material and the material itself, which is of importance particularly in the case of thin magnetic tapes. The braking system can in principle be used for all types of magnetic tape and film cassette.
