  • Publication number: 20030176267
Abstract: The invention relates to a centrifuge provided with a blood bag system having an upper and lower outlet for separation of blood constituents, containing a rotor which can be driven in a rotative manner about a hub, wherein at least one conventional whole blood bag equipped with an upper outlet and with a lower outlet can be positioned vertically in this blood bag, while the whole blood bag can be arranged on the rotor in such a way that one outlet of the whole blood bag is bent in a radial direction, and the opposite outlet of the whole blood bag is bent in the other radial direction, so that the entire whole blood bag and the outlets thereof adopt an approximately Z- or S-shaped form in its functional position. In this case it is preferred that the upper outlet of the whole blood bag lie radially toward the interior and the lower outlet of the whole blood bag lie radially toward the exterior of the whole blood bag.

  • Patent number: 5456652
Abstract: A rotor for a swivel beaker centrifuge with mountings for several swivel beakers ensures that the rotor is formed essentially as a horizontal disk and recesses have been prepared in the disk in which arms of the swivel beaker engage, whereby the centrifugal force acting on the swivel beakers is transferred with its stress from the arms to the external radial edge of the respective slit in the rotor disk.

  • Patent number: 5318749
Abstract: The centrifugation chamber serves in particular for liquor testing, the liquid to be tested being arranged in a vessel whose bottom area is formed by a slide retained in a bottom part, there being arranged at least at the outer circumference of the vessel a suction element which lies on the lower part. The upper part is clampable on the lower part by means of a clamping device, so that different size upper parts can be used with a single lower part.

  • Patent number: 5232432
Abstract: An angular head for centrifuges serves to receive a plurality of beakers which are arranged inclined at a fixed angle to the vertical in recesses in the angular head. The angular head is developed in at least two parts and consists of a mechanically loadable outer part and a less loadable inner part, the inner part being connected to the outer part at least in the region of the rotor hub, and the outer part having on its outer circumference in the vicinity of the bottom of the beakers an annular bottom part which is bent at an angle radially inward and the inner part having an outwardly bent part adjacent the annular bottom part. The outwardly bent part and annular bottom part define a joint therebetween for preventing transmission of a load between the outwardly bent part and annular bottom part.

  • Patent number: 5158749
Abstract: An insert beaker for centrifuges for centrifuging blood, having a blood bag placed in the insert beaker in association with a positive displacement body that acts upon the insert beaker from outside, the blood bag communicating via connecting hoses with at least one other blood bag inside the centrifuge. The insert beaker (1) is made with two pivotable shell halves (2, 3) joined together, and retaining elements for the blood bag to be placed between the shell halves (2, 3) is disposed on the top of the shell halves (2, 3).

  • Patent number: 4963326
Abstract: A protective device is provided for capillary tublets during centrifuging of blood by means of a centrifuge. The tubelets are placed on the disk of a centrifuge and pointed radially outwardly from the rotation axis of the disk in such a way the closed ends of the capillary tublets are directed towards a wall side of the disk. The protective device comprises a protective tube with a stopper. The tubelets are disposed in the protective tube. The stopper is propped against the disk wall of the disk of centrifuge during the centrifuging process.

  • Patent number: 4688513
Abstract: A centrifugal chamber for coating slides with a sedimentation product of a sample fluid includes an upper part with at least one cylindrical sample chambers located therein, and a slide resting in sealed fashion against one end of the sample chambers. The slide is mounted on a flat surface of a carrier plate and is releasably connected with the assembly. The releasable connection between the upper part of the centrifugal chamber and the carrier plate which holds the slide includes a locking slide operable with one hand, with locking openings, and with the slide being displaceably mounted in the carrier plate in a longitudinal direction thereof and being further connectable with matching parts of the upper part which engage the locking openings.

  • Patent number: 4612873
Abstract: A centrifuge chamber for cytodiagnostic investigation of epithelial cells contained in a sample, wherein a cell suspension investigated is placed in a first bore of a sample chamber containing a plurality of bores disposed parallel to one another and subjected to a centrifuging process. During a centrifuging process, the sample fluid is separated into a proximal fraction and a distal fraction, and the proximal fraction is then separated by the centrifuging process so that it is transferred via a flow connection provided between the first and second bores, into the second bore. In addition to automatic separation of the proximal and distal fractions during the centrifuging process, it is also possible to perform a staining procedure during the centrifuging process.

  • Patent number: 4591486
Abstract: The method for sedimentation of part of a sample liquid on a slide by centrifuging a sample tube containing the sample liquid consists in the fact that the separation of the sample liquid into a sedimentation product and a supernatant and the coating of the slide with the sedimentation product is accomplished in a single work step during centrifugation. A plurality of successive work steps of a conventional nature is thereby avoided, because the sample tube containing the sample liquid is designed in the form of a centrifuge tube sealed by a releasable closure, against whose inner end, pointing into the centrifuge tube, the slide is releasably fastened.

  • Patent number: 4447220
Abstract: A cup (2) of the centrifuge has two chambers (1,3). In the first chamber is placed the first blood bag (6) filled with blood fluid, which is inserted into the chamber together with an elastically deformable inset cup (4). A pressure pad (9) bears at one end on the outside (7) of the inset cup (4) and at the other end on the inside (8) of the chamber (1) of the centrifuge. During the centrifuging, the pressure pad (9) is admitted with pressure which results in a great volume increase. The inset cup (4) is thus compressed elastically so that the blood bag (6) is compressed and the blood components centrifuged in the blood bag are transferred corresponding to the volume increase of the pressure pad (9) into an empty satellite-blood bag arranged in the adjacent chamber (2). Over the upper connecting part (81) of the blood bag projecting from the chamber (1) is pushed a holder (64) which prevents bending of the connecting tube during the centrifuging process.
