Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a moving material web of paper, cardboard or the ke to shape by burning with a deflectable laser beam focussed on the material web is provided, wherein an acousto-optical, frequency-dependent deflection means controlled as a function of the movement of the material web to be cut is used, the deflection element of which lies in the path of the laser beam.

Abstract: A quick change cutting cylinder for letter envelope and hygiene machines is rovided wherein the cylinder is rotatably received on both its sides with conical cylinder journals on the end faces thereof coaxially in respective bearing units which run with pretensioned precision anti-friction bearings with great radial and axial stiffness without play, and which are locked on a common parallel guide by means of fast-acting clamping devices.

Abstract: A cutting roll for producing shaped inner and outer cuts on moving webs or iscrete blanks of paper or the like and, more particularly, for the production of blanks for envelopes on envelope machines, includes a base or parent member carrying a web-like blade whose development corresponds to the contours of the format to be cut. The blade is composed of one or more weld beads disposed one above another and one beside another horizontally on the base member.

Abstract: An improved cutting device of the type having rotary vane knives, which cerate with stationary knives, for making patterned cuts in the edges of paper webs, particularly for the preparation of envelopes or envelope blanks, is provided. The device includes at least one cooperating knife pair, comprising one rotary knife and one stationary knife, disposed for cooperative engagement for making patterned cuts in the edges of paper webs moving therepast. The blades are made of materials differing from one another in hardness to an extent such that the softer knife can have material removed from it without damage to the latter, and at least one of the knives of the cooperating knife pair, is mounted for feeding movement toward its associated cooperating knife, while the cutting device is operated.
