Abstract: An electric motor (1) comprises a housing (5) which encloses it tightly and consists of a stainless steel sheet jacket (28), a stator (2), a shaft (3) which is passed out of the housing, and two centering pieces (6, 7) arranged on both sides of the stator (2), which abut the end faces of the stator (2) and in which the shaft (3) is mounted. In such a motor (1) the housing (5) is required, while retaining the known advantages, to withstand high mechanical stresses and moreover to be capable of being produced for a small outlay. To this end the centering pieces (6, 7) are of thick-walled construction, preferably of cast material, and the outside diameter on the side facing the stator (2) is greater than that of the stator, the centering pieces (6, 7) embracing the stator (2) positively.

Abstract: The invention concerns the use of working bodies of low density in vibratory abrasive finishing machines for the smoothing of articles of wood, particularly articles of furniture, between the undercoating and varnishing thereof. The working bodies have either the shape of angular resin-free wooden pins of a size of 4.times.4.times.30 mm and an average Shore A hardness of about 95.degree. to 100.degree. or a flat base opposite which there is a head surface corresponding to the shape of a spherical segment.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display has a first system of parallel elongated electrodes and a second system of parallel elongated electrodes. The first and second systems are perpendicular to each other. The electrodes in the second system are biased in such a fashion that each electrode in the second system has a greater bias voltage than has the next electrode in the second system. An analog multiplexer connects an analog input signal to all of the electrodes in the first system in a sequential fashion of repeated sweeps. The signal is displayed on the liquid crystal display in a histogram-like format of signal strength versus time.

Abstract: Method for the manufacture of a negative cadmium electrode containing a discharge reserve for gas-tight alkaline storage batteries by incorporating an organic cadmium compound into the electrode structure and roasting to thermally dissociate the organic compound to produce the discharge reserve. Additional features are incorporation of an organic nickel compound which also decomposes to form nickel and adding a control gas to aid in control of content of discharge reserve.

Abstract: A conveyor belt for use in electrophotographic copying apparatus, which conveyor belt has a plurality of apertures therein and comprises electrically insulating material that can be electrostatically charged, the size and the distribution of the apertures being such that sheet material on which a copy is to be produced can adhere by electrostatic attraction to the belt when the belt is installed in the apparatus and such that the tendency of the belt to impair the copy is less than that for a belt without apertures.

Abstract: A positive electrode for alkaline storage batteries contains as its active mass a ternary mixture of nickel hydroxide, cadmium hydroxide, and cobalt hydroxide.
