  • Patent number: 7243462
Abstract: An access door has a rectangular outer frame adapted to be set in a wall and having two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides defining four corners and a rectangular inner frame congruent to the outer frame, having longitudinal and transverse sides and four corners, and dimensioned to fit within the outer frame. Hinges at corners at ends of one of the longitudinal sides hold the inner frame in the outer frame and allow pivoting of the inner frame in the outer frame generally about the one longitudinal side. Two transversely effective spring latches are provided at the other longitudinal side near ends thereof between the inner and outer frames, and two longitudinally effective spring latches are provided at the transverse sides near the other longitudinal side between the inner and outer frames.

  • Publication number: 20050086884
Abstract: An access door has an outer annular wall frame and an inner annular panel frame. The panel frame has a back flange parallel to but offset rearward from a wall face plane and having a planar front face formed with a forwardly projecting formation. It also has a rim flange projecting generally perpendicular to the plane forward from the outer edge of the back flange and having an annular inner face forming a corner with the front face of the back flange. A rigid panel set in the annular frame has an outer edge juxtaposed with the inner face of the rim flange, a back face spaced from the front face of the back flange, and a front face generally coplanar with a front edge of the rim flange. Adhesive in the space secures the panel to the panel frame.

  • Publication number: 20050086867
Abstract: An access door has a rectangular outer frame adapted to be set in a wall and having two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides defining four corners and a rectangular inner frame dimensioned to fit within the outer frame. Respective hinge plates fixed at corners at ends of one of the longitudinal sides of the inner frame each have an outer part bearing outward on a back face of the outer frame for holding the inner frame in the outer frame and for pivoting of the inner frame in the outer frame generally about the one longitudinal side. Each of the plates is formed with a transversely outwardly open centering notch. Respective centering tabs on the outer frame are engageable in the centering notches of the hinges.

  • Patent number: 4998381
Abstract: An inspection cover arrangement with an inspection mounting and an inspection cover, the inspection mounting including frame sections of aluminum, and the inspection cover having cover sections of aluminum is disclosed. The frame sections are so-to-speak reinforced by steel backup retaining sections and overlapping steel corner angles. The cover sections are reinforced by steel backup sheet strips and overlapping steel corner angles, so that in case of exposure to flame action a steel skeleton remains in place for the inspection mounting as well as for the inspection cover, even if the aluminum sections melt down. Because of this the inspection cover arrangement is distinguished by high resistance to fire or by a long period during which it resists the action of fire.

  • Patent number: 4439965
Abstract: A door-casing element comprises an elongated inner metallic profile, an egated outer metallic profile parallel to and spaced outwardly from the inner profile, an elongated thermally relatively nonconductive connector between and engaging both of the profiles, and ratchet formations securing the profiles in spaced-apart relationship to the connector. The inner and outer profiles are spaced so it is possible to form them of aluminum, which can be made with an attractive anodized finish and which can be used in outdoors applications without danger of rust. The thermally nonconductive connector, which can be made of rigid and fire-resistant gypsum fibers, will not transmit heat effectively between the two profiles so that the resultant casing can easily be of high firecode rating.

  • Patent number: 4424607
Abstract: A hinge for a door comprises a pair of hinge members, one of which is affd to the door frame while the other is attached to the door panel. The hinge elements are each formed with an attachment flange provided along an edge with a pivot sleeve which is in axial symmetrical alignment with the flange. The flange is formed with holes for the fastening screws and one of these holes at the center of the flange with the other holes being oriented in mirror symmetrical relationship so that the hinge element on the door can be rotated about the center provided by the central hole to assume positions for either left-handed or right-handed mounting. The pintle has a collar or shoulder between two plug-forming portions which fit into the sleeves of the two elements.

  • Patent number: 4418746
Abstract: A heat exchanger has a heat-exchange plate having an edge and formed with a lurality of parallel spaced-apart longitudinal passages opening at the edge and with a plurality of transversely throughgoing plate holes at the edge between the passages. A manifold pipe formed with a row of manifold holes all opening in the same direction and spaced apart the same as the passages at the edge can be fitted to the plate with the plate edge over the row of manifold holes so that each of the passages is aligned longitudinally with a respective one of the manifold holes. A pair of L-section guides fixed on the pipe flank the row of manifold holes and define a gap corresponding to the shape of the plate at the edge. These guides are formed between the manifold holes with laterally throughgoing guide holes transversely alignable with the plate holes when the edge is fitted over the row of manifold holes.

  • Patent number: 4344258
Abstract: A device for mounting a door in a door opening defined by at least one wall dge, e.g. for a desk, cabinet or building structure, comprises a door frame member in the form of a U-profile which straddles this edge and is affixed thereto. According to the invention, on the edge turned toward the opening, the wall is provided with a mounting element having a rib projecting in the direction of the opening which is clamped against a retaining profile received within the frame member by the movement of a wedge by a screw which is inserted through a hole in the frame member and has its head located within a rabbet for the door set into the frame member. The retainer also has a flange which cooperates with a clamping member actuated by another screw located at the rabbet to engage a shank of a hinge pin or like element.

  • Patent number: 4274235
Abstract: A frame assembly for mounting between a pair of generally parallel members as four elongated frame elements each having two ends each having a longitudinally outwardly open recess. These elements are arrayed in a rectangle with two of the elements parallel to each other and lying against the members and the other two of the elements being parallel to each other and extending generally perpendicular to the members and forming corners with the other elements. Respective Y-shaped corner pieces are provided at the corners and each have a pair of generally perpendicular arms received in the respective recesses and a central leg. One of these arms of each piece is elastically deflectable toward and away from the other arm of the respective piece.

  • Patent number: 4251962
Abstract: A clamping device for clamping a structure, such as a door or window case, nto a frame of substantially U-shape cross-section, and which has an inner web wall with an offset portion and a sidewall on each side, comprises, a clamping body of substantially U-shape cross-section. The clamping body has a back web wall adapted to be secured to the structure and a leg wall on each side of the web wall which extends outwardly therefrom. At least a portion of the length of each of the leg walls is resilient so that it may be bent inwardly or outwardly. The substantially U-shaped abutment has a back abutment wall which is adapted to be slidably engaged into a receiving groove at the offset portion of the frame. It includes an abutment sidewall on each side which is disposed alongside the respective ones of the leg walls. A clamp member is movably disposed between the side leg walls of the clamping body and it is displaceable to move these walls into clamping engagement with the sidewall of the abutment.
