  • Patent number: 5902918
Abstract: Alkenylaromatics are produced by catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of alkylaromatics employing a redox catalyst which is bismuth oxide, in combination with an additive compound of an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal, on a titanium diooxide carrier. In a first reaction step, an alkylaromatic starting material is oxidatively dehydrogenated with the redox catalyst in the absence of molecular oxygen with attending reduction of the redox catalyst. In a second reaction step, the reduced redox catalyst is reoxidized with an oxygen-containing gas.

  • Patent number: 5817871
Abstract: A process for preparing an amine by catalytic reaction of an olefin with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine by contacting a mixture of the reactants in a reactor at 200.degree. to 400.degree. C. and an elevated pressure up to 700 bar in the presence of a catalyst consisting essentially of an X-ray amorphous (non-crystalline) mesoporous catalyst, some of which may have a microporous non-crystalline content. The catalyst has the compositiona MO.sub.2 * b Q.sub.2 O.sub.3 * c P.sub.2 O.sub.5where Q is at least one of the trivalent elements aluminum, boron, chromium, iron or gallium, and M is at least one of the tetravalent elements silicon, titanium or germanium. The molar ratio of a:b is from 0.5:1 to 1000:1 and the molar ratio of c:b is from 0 to 2:1. As prepared and used in the process, this non-crystalline catalyst has a specific BET surface area of from 200 to 1000 m.sup.2 /g.

  • Patent number: 5693825
Abstract: A process for the preparation of an aziridine, especially ethyleneimine but also its derivatives in which one or both of its carbon atoms may be substituted once or twice by C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl or aryl, and the nitrogen atom is substituted by hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl, aryl benzyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -hydroxyalkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 - aminoalkyl wherein ethanolamine or its derivatives bearing the same carbon and nitrogen substituents is reacted in the gas phase for dehydration at from 200.degree. to 600.degree. C. and from 0.001 to 5 bar, especially 0.1 to 1 bar, over a heterogeneous catalyst shaped as presintered moldings and maintained as a steady-state or as a circulating fluidized bed catalyst. The preferred fluidizable presintered moldings are those prepared from a ceramic powder as a catalyst or catalyst carrier having a uniform pore size in the macroporous range.
