  • Patent number: 4925004
Abstract: Apparatus for converting a file of coaxial filter rod sections into one or more rows of such sections has two identical disc cams adjacent to the path of successive foremost sections of the file and being driven in synchronism so that their lobes simultaneously shift the adjacent foremost section sideways along a smooth supporting surface and thereby accelerate such section to the speed of sections in the row or rows while the section continues to move axially toward the oncoming flute of a drum-shaped conveyor which forms and advances the rows of sections into a filter tipping machine. The lobes and the adjacent portions of the peripheral surfaces of the disc cams are formed with suction ports which attract the foremost sections of the file during lateral shifting to thus ensure highly predictable and gentle changes in the direction of travel of successive foremost sections on their way into the respective flutes of the drum-shaped conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4814733
Abstract: In a high-voltage transformer of particularly small size comprising a magnetic circuit and a coil shell on which is wound a secondary winding consisting of one or a number of separate secondary coils, each secondary coil is contained within a channel closed by an insulating ring made up of two segments. The two ring segments are assembled around the channel in a movement performed in the same plane as that of the channel.

  • Patent number: 4744453
Abstract: Apparatus for temporary storage of cigarettes has a collecting vessel with a lateral inlet for a mass flow of parallel cigarettes and with a vertical duct at the bottom for evacuation of a mass flow of cigarettes. The top portion of the vessel carries two pivotable flaps whose lower portions are connected with spaced-apart portions of a flexible membrane in the form of a wire mesh which rests on the supply of cigarettes in the vessel. That flap which is adjacent the inlet of the vessel is heavier than the other flap and carries the mobile portion of a level monitoring device serving to regulate the rate of admission and/or evacuation of cigarettes and/or to arrest the machine which makes the cigartettes.

  • Patent number: 4541521
Abstract: Successive foremost trays of a row of trays on the upper reaches of several endless belt conveyors are advanced away from the remainder of the row toward a lifting device by setting the conveyors in motion while a blocking device engages the remaining trays and holds them against movement with the conveyors. The blocking device can lift the remaining trays above the conveyors, or is provided with a profile which engages complementary profiles at the undersides of the remaining trays. A pawl holds the foremost tray against movement with the conveyors while the blocking device is disengaged from the trays behind the foremost tray.

  • Patent number: 4449625
Abstract: Apparatus for transporting holders for filled cigarette trays from the lower level of a tray filling machine to the higher level of a removing station defines an elliptical path at the vertex of which filled trays are removed from the holders and at the lowermost point of which empty holders receive trays which are filled with arrays of cigarettes. The holders are transported by conveyors which are directly or indirectly mounted on levers rotating about axes which are defined by the arms of a further lever rotating about a fixed axis. The holders are guided in such a way that their orientation remains unchanged during transport along the elliptical path.

  • Patent number: 4333942
Abstract: 4-Phenoxypiperidines of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group with 3 to 5 carbon atoms, a cycloalkylmethyl group with 3 to 7 carbon atoms in the cycloalkyl part or a phenylalkyl group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl part,R.sup.2 denotes a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, an amino group or an acylamino group andR.sup.3 denotes a phenyl group or a benzyl group, and their N-oxides and their acid-addition salts are new compounds. They have an antiptotic and analgesic action and are suitable for the treatment of depressions and painful conditions. Processes for the preparation of the new compounds are provided.

  • Patent number: 4207720
Abstract: The lower end portion of a magazine for parallel cigarettes or like rod-shaped articles contains a horizontal grid of parallel rods which divide the outlet opening of the lower end portion into parallel passages wherein the cigarettes descend into an empty tray therebelow. When the tray is filled (such filling takes place while the tray descends, either continuously or stepwise), the passages are blocked by rod-like closing members which are parallel to the rods of the grid and are movable from inoperative positions behind the rods of the grid to intercepting positions in or above the passages. The closing members are oscillated and/or vibrated to prevent jamming of passages and/or bridging of cigarettes above the grid. The mechanism for moving the closing members between inoperative and intercepting positions employs a pneumatic motor or an electromagnet which can shift a common carrier for the closing members. The mechanism is actuated in automatic response to completed filling of a tray.

  • Patent number: 4059940
Abstract: A tray filling apparatus wherein a suction head accumulates rows of cigarettes and a pusher transfers the rows into a tray which is supported by an endless chain conveyor. The suction head and the pusher receive motion from a drive which includes a variable-speed DC-motor, a step-down gearing which is driven by the output shaft of the motor, and a mechanical transmission having a first component which moves the suction head between a lower position in which the latter accumulates a row of cigarettes and one of two raised positions, and a second component which moves the pusher forwardly not later than when the suction head reaches a raised position.

  • Patent number: 4016280
Abstract: 4,4-Diarylpiperidine compounds, preferably 4,4-diphenylpiperidine which are substituted or unsubstituted in the 1-position of the piperidine nucleus, such as 1-(lower alkyl)-4,4-diphenylpiperidines, 1-(lower alkyl)-4-phenyl-4-tolylpiperidines, and their substantially non-toxic, pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts, are highly effective central nervous system (CNS) stimulants which are superior to known amphetamine-type stimulants. A novel and highly advantageous process of making such 4,4-diarylpiperidine compounds comprises reacting a 4-aryl-4-hydroxypiperidine compound which may be substituted in its 3-position by an aroyl group, with an aromatic hydrocarbon, in particular with benzene, in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts-type catalyst.
