  • Patent number: 4816786
Abstract: A polarizer for connection to a first and a second wave guide includes a feed tube and the first wave guide connected laterally to the feed tube whereby a long dimension of the wave guide extends in the direction of the axis of the feed tube. A short circuiting element is disposed in the feed tube between the connection of the first wave guide and one end of the feed tube. The second wave guide extends parallel to the first one and is laterally connected with a wide side to that one end of the feed tube, closing the same. The wide dimensions of the two wave guides are turned by 90.degree.. The second wave guide is short circuited at its end, and a trimming pin is disposed on the second wave guide in axial alignment with the axis of the tube. The other end of the feed tube is connected to a single wave guide. The wave guides may have rectangular or elliptical cross section.

  • Patent number: 4758806
Abstract: An antenna exciter for two different frequency bands which consists of two polarization switches (3, 4) arranged axially one behind the other and of a feed horn (5). The polarization switches (3, 4) are circular tubes of different inside diameters, the diameters being the same over the entire length. To each polarization switch (3, 4) there can be connected, spaced axially from each other, two wave guides (6, 7, 8, 9) 90.degree. apart from each other. Opposite the wave guide (9) adjacent the feed horn (5) a stop closed by a short-circuit plate (12) is arranged in the corresponding polarization switch (4). Between the feed horn (5) and the adjacent wave guide (9) and between the points of connection of the two wave guides (8, 9) of the larger polarization switch (4), two axially extending webs lying diametrically opposite each other and of a predetermined dimension are arranged therein.

  • Patent number: 4584588
Abstract: A polarization feed is provided for use in a directional antenna under separation of two linearly polarized electromagnetic waves whereby the feed is basically comprised of a tube, one end of which flares into a feed horn configuration and two wave guides are connected thereto, one ending laterally with its axial end at the feed tube while the other one has one side connected to the other axial end of the feed tube under consideration that respective long cross sectional dimensions are 90.degree. rotated with respect to each other as connected to the tube. Appropriate means are provided for obtaining low reflection feeding.

  • Patent number: 4412222
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual polarized feed by which two linea polarized waves can be reliably separated. The two waves are conducted separately over high frequency coaxial cables, one of which extends axially and the other radially into the polarizer. Rotation of the planes of polarization is thus unnecessary and the two cables have a minimum influence on the illumination (irradiation) of the reflector.

  • Patent number: 4366457
Abstract: High-frequency radio waves are transmitted through a coaxial cable having apertures spaced at a distance considerably larger than the wavelength of the signals; the apertures are feed points for surface waves on the cable.

  • Patent number: 4343003
Abstract: An improved directional antenna for microwave transmissions is disclosed comprising a paraboloidal main reflector, a waveguide feed having a first open end thereof positioned on the axis of the main reflector, and a second waveguide of the same size serially connected between the second open end of the waveguide feed and a transmission device such as a microwave transceiver. The waveguide feed has an elliptical cross-section throughout its axial length, thus providing an elliptically shaped first open end that in of itself and without separate horn attachment, functions as a feed energizer; while the second waveguide also has an elliptical cross-section of the same size, which in combination with such waveguide feed provides a microwave coupling to the transmission device that minimizes reflections, respectively matching problems, especially in the case of overmoded waveguide applications.
