  • Patent number: 6454829
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for the continuous degassing of molten metals and subsequent casting of the degassed metal, according to which the molten metal is guided into a vacuum for the purpose of degasification and after degasification is transferred into a casting chamber. To make it possible to carry out these operations continuously and to prevent the degassed metal from coming into contact with untreated metal, the invention provides for the molten metal to be transferred from a first chamber via an ascension pipe having an inlet opening located below the level of the metal bath into a vacuum chamber serving as degasification chamber by utilizing only the lift force resulting from the pressure differential between the vacuum chamber and the first chamber and no other means of transport. From the vacuum chamber the molten meal by gravity flows into the downpipe whose outlet opening is below the level of the molten metal bath in the casting chamber and enters the casting chamber.

  • Patent number: 6240120
Abstract: Fine metallic particles are melted in a furnace having an upper region surrounded by a crucible coil and a lower region forming a channel holding a core of a channel inductor. The particles are filled from above into the vessel while simultaneously electrically energizing the inductor with alternating current to inductively heat and fuse the particles and thereby form a melt in the vessel and electrically energizing the coil with alternating current to mix the melt in the vessel while energizing the inductor.

  • Patent number: 5873403
Abstract: A continuous casting installation with a heatable, pressure-regulated multiple-chamber furnace and a furnace-dependent mold for casting a molten metal. The pressure ratios in the pressure chamber of the furnace are regulated in accordance with its degree of fullness by a pressure generating device in order to maintain a constant metallostatic pressure in the mold chamber of the furnace. In order to improve the reliability with which the filling state is determined, the mold is fitted statically to a furnace-independent supporting frame and the multiple-chamber furnace is dynamically supported on a weighing device. Additionally, the mold is connected with the multiple-chamber furnace in a frictional engagement via a compressible seal.
