  • Patent number: 6488982
Abstract: A method for reducing ion concentrations in separator materials used in electrochemical processes, including in lead storage batteries. The separator material is treated with at least one acid from the group of sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid and sulfonic acids and/or at least one salt from the group of sulfates, phosphates and diphosphates of the alkali metals of alkaline earth metals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2000
Date of Patent: December 3, 2002
Assignee: Accumulatorenwerke Hoppecke Carl Zoellner & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Werner Nitsche, Norbert Lahme, Günter Sassmannshausen
  • Patent number: 6254818
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of treating elastic material that is provided with silica embedments to avoid shrinkage, whereby the finished material that is provided with the silica embedments is subjected for a prescribed period of time to temperatures above 40° C. prior to further processing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 9, 1998
Date of Patent: July 3, 2001
Assignee: Accumulatorenwerke Hoppecke Carl Zoellner & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Werner Nitsche, Norbert Lahme, Günter Sassmannshausen
  • Patent number: 6114066
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing lead storage batteries are provided. sentially grid-shaped lead electrodes are produced and are provided with a pasty, active mass. Immediately thereafter separator material is provided on both sides of the electrodes. The electrodes are stacked, electrically connected, and placed in a housing to form a cell unit, which is subsequently stored to effect curing of the pasty, active mass.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 5, 2000
Assignee: Accumulatorenwerke Hoppecke Carl Zoellner & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Werner Nitsche, Norbert Lahme, Gunter Sassmannshausen
  • Patent number: 4129687
Abstract: A reaction catalyst for the recombination of the oxyhydrogen gas produced by lead-acid storage batteries into water in a controlled, exothermic reaction, where the catalyst element is a solid rod element with a central heat conducting core, the catalyst rod being positioned inside a gas-tight housing in communication with the battery gas space. This rod element is produced by a fabricating method in which granular catalyst carrier material is worked into a paste which is then shaped and dried, the metallic catalyst being deposited on the surface of the carrier grains.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 1975
Date of Patent: December 12, 1978
    Assignee: Accumulatorenwerk Hoppecke
    Inventors: Norbert Lahme, Gunter Sassmannshausen
  • Patent number: 4093785
Abstract: A lead storage battery with positive and negative plates, the contact lugs of which respectively are connected with one another by lug bridges. The grid upper part of each plate grid is covered with an acid resistant synthetic material covering, which synthetic material covering surrounds the contact lugs acid-tight, the synthetic material covering being connected acid tight with the cell cover or one-piece composition case cover. The lug bridges are connected with one another outside of the acid space of the contact lugs.
