Publication number: 20060269582Abstract: The present invention includes portions or extracts of any kind, which can be obtained from the plant Vitex agnus-castus (monk pepper) and can be used as repellent against bothersome, lymph-and/or blood-sucking, skin penetrating, respectively food, storage materials—or plant—damaging arthropods (mites, ticks, insects). Thus, this repellent protects the health of humans, pet animals and livestock, plants and stored materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2003Publication date: November 30, 2006Applicant: Alpha-Biocare GmbHInventors: Hans-Kervin Bruins, Heinz Mehlhorn, Gunter Schmahl, Jurgen Schmidt

Patent number: 5464837Abstract: A method for controlling fish parasites by administering to fish having such parasites or to a habitat of fish having such parasites an effective amount of at least one substituted 1,2,4-triazinedione of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents optionally substituted aromatic radicals or represents optionally substituted heteroaromatic radicals linked via carbon;X represents O, S, SO, SO.sub.2 or -CH(CN)-;R.sup.2 represents one or more identical or different hydrogen, halogen, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl, or halogenoalkoxy radicals; andR.sup.3 represents hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, or aralkyl;or a salt thereof with a base.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1992Date of Patent: November 7, 1995Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heinz Mehlhorn, Gunter Schmahl, Werner Lindner, Axel Haberkorn

Patent number: 5222113Abstract: The invention is directed to an X-ray microscope having a pulsed X-ray radiation source which supplies an intensive line radiation such as a plasma focus source. The microscope includes a reflecting condenser which focusses the radiation of the radiation source on the specimen to be investigated and an X-ray optic configured as a zone plate. With the zone plate, the specimen is imaged on an X-ray detector with a high resolution. The above combination of elements makes it possible to free an adequately high amount of X-ray energy at the location of the specimen while providing a high resolution free of image errors so that the required short exposure times are provided for the investigation of living cells.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1991Date of Patent: June 22, 1993Assignee: Carl-Zeiss-StiftungInventors: Jurgen Thieme, Bastian Nieman, Gunter Schmahl, Dietbert Rudolph

Patent number: 5188832Abstract: A method of using certain triazine-dione compounds for the control of endo- and ectoparasites of fish and/or insects. The compounds may be combined with aids to form an agent for controlling the endo- or ectoparasites.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1990Date of Patent: February 23, 1993Assignee: Hoechst AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heinz Mehlhorn, Horst Taraschewski, Gunter Schmahl, Wolfgang Raether, Manfred Rosner

Patent number: 5070091Abstract: Substituted 1,2,4-triazinediones of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents an optionally substituted aromatic heteroaromatic radical which is bonded via carbon, X represents O, S, SO, SO.sub.2 or ##STR2## R.sup.2 represents one or more identical or different radicals from the group comprising hydrogen, halogen, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl and halogenalkoxy,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl or aralkyl, as well as their salts with bases. These compounds are useful for combating protozoa in insects.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1989Date of Patent: December 3, 1991Assignee: Bayer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heinz Mehlhorn, Gunter Schmahl, Werner Lindner, Axel Haberkorn

Patent number: 4953188Abstract: For producing phase-contrast images with a microscope which scans the object point-by-point with a beam of illuminating radiation, the illuminating radiation is focused by an objective (31, 32) including a phase-shifting element (33) of preselective geometry. A radiation-sensitive detector (36) is positioned directly behind the object plane (34), seen in the direction of the light; and the shape of the radiation-sensitive area of the detector is adapted to encompass the path of the radiation passing through the geometry of the phase-shifting element (33) of the objective (31, 32), e.g., where the phase-shifting elements (33) comprise an annular aperture, an appropriately conforming annular diaphragm (35) is arranged in front of the detector (36). The advantage of this arrangement is that it does not use any radiation-collecting lens system between the object plane (34) and the detector (36).Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1989Date of Patent: August 28, 1990Assignee: Carl-Zeiss-StiftungInventors: Augustin Siegel, Gunter Schmahl, Dietbert Rudolph

Patent number: 4870674Abstract: An x-ray microscope in which the object is illuminated coherently or partially coherently via a condenser with quasi-monochromatic x-radiation and is imaged enlarged in the image plane by a high resolution x-ray objective. To obtain the highest possible image contrast, there is arranged in the Fourier plane of the x-ray objective an element which imparts a phase shift to a preselected order of diffraction of the radiation. The element extends over the surface region in the Fourier plane which is acted on here by the diffracted radiation to be influenced. The utilization of the phase shift of a preselected order of diffraction of the radiation as compared with the uninfluenced radiation makes it possible to carry out examinations, in particular of biological structures, with a low dose of radiation and nevertheless to produce a high image contrast.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1987Date of Patent: September 26, 1989Assignee: Carl-Zeiss-StiftungInventors: Gunter Schmahl, Dietbert Rudolph
