  • Patent number: 4857461
Abstract: The present invention relates to a continuous process for the enzymatic preparation of isomaltulose. A periplasmatic sucrose-mutase is produced by fermentation of microorganisms which form sucrose-mutase. The cell-free crude enzyme extract is prepared by digestion of the cells and by cross-flow microfiltration. In a single-stage, simultaneous purification and immobilization of the sucrose-mutase from the cell-free crude extract conditioned by diafiltration is obtained by selective bonding to an anionizable carrier matrix. Direct conversion of sucrose into isomaltulose is produced by the sucrose-mutase bonded to the anionizable carrier matrix, preferably in cartridge or cartouche form.

  • Patent number: 4774178
Abstract: Biological material such as microorganisms is immobilized by polymerizing in the presence of the biological material a readily soluble polyetherpolyol having some hydroxyl groups esterified with acrylic and/or methacrylic acid and remaining hydroxyl groups reacted with an isocyanate group-containing derivative of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a polyfunctional isocyanate. Preferably, the isocyanate derivative of an unsaturated carboxylic acid is isocyanatoethyl acrylate, isocyanatoethyl methacrylate of 4-isocyanato-3-methyl-2-butyl-acrylate and the polyfunctional isocyanate is a diisocyanate or polyisocyanate. Beads can be produced by forming droplets in a water-immiscible medium and polymerizing. Polymerization can be carried out under inert gas in the presence of radical initiators or by irradiation with actinic light.

  • Patent number: 4045552
Abstract: Protease-free proteins, especially protease-free kallikrein, which are prepared by contacting a solution of the protein with a carrier-bound water-insoluble protease inhibitor that does not bind to said protein, and have improved storage stability in solution.

  • Patent number: 4044196
Abstract: There are disclosed water-insoluble proteinic preparations in which a protein or polypeptide is bound to a copolymer, which preparations are useful for binding enzymes in order to carry out enzyme-catalyzable reactions. These preparations comprise a peptide material bound to a cross-linked copolymer comprising the following copolymerized units:A. about 0.1 to 50 weight percent of at least one .alpha.,.beta. - monoolefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride having about 4 to 9 carbon atoms;B. about 99.9 to 50 weight percent of at least one di- and/or poly(meth)acrylate of a diol and/or a polyol as hereinafter defined,The copolymer having a bulk volume of 1.4 to 30 ml/g and a specific surface area of about 1 to 500 m.sup.2 /g, and containing, after saponification of the anhydride groups, about 0.02 to 10 milliequivalents of acid per gram.

These preparations comprise a peptide material bound to a crosslinked copolymer comprising the following copolymerized units:A. about 0.1 to 30 wt. % of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-monoolefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride having about 4 to 9 carbon atoms;B. about 35 to 90 wt. % of at least one di- and/or poly(meth)acrylate of a diol and/or polyol as hereinafter defined; andC. about 5 to 60 wt. % of at least one hydrophilic monomer,The copolymer having a bulk volume of 1.4 to 30 ml/g and a specific surface area of about 1 to 500 m.sup.2 /g, and containing, after saponification of the anhydride groups, about 0.01 to 14 milliequivalents of acid per gram.
