  • Patent number: 5286127
Abstract: A writing instrument has an elongated hollow barrel having a front end formed with a longitudinally extending tip passage centered on and defining an axis, an ink reservoir in the barrel, and a rigid synthetic-resin tip extending along the axis, formed with longitudinal capillaries, and having a front pointed end which projects axially forwardly from the barrel and a rear pointed end which is in the reservoir. This tip is centrally formed with a radially outwardly open groove having axially spaced front and rear flanks and is substantially symmetrical about a plane bisecting the groove. A plurality of radially inwardly projecting holding ribs formed in the passage radially engage the tip and each form a forwardly directed shoulder bearing axially forward on the front flank of the groove.

  • Patent number: 5232487
Abstract: A method of simultaneous disposal of liquid and solid wastes comprises the steps of introducing liquid and solid wastes into a gasification reactor with a cooled reactor inner wall and liquid slag discharge and gasifying the liquid and solid wastes at a temperature which is at least 50.degree. C. higher than a melting temperature of mineral components of the solid wastes with a dwelling time of a produced gas in the gasification reactor more than 2 seconds.

  • Patent number: 4759651
Abstract: The cap for the writing instrument comprises a jacket mounted slidably on a sealing insert or sleeve which provides a sealed moisture chamber for the writing tip when the cap is on the writing instrument. Near the writing tip there is a circular bulge on the shaft of the writing instrument which enters into a sealing engagement with an interior passage of the sealing insert. On putting the cap on the writing instrument the sealing insert is pushed over the circular bulge until it contacts a contacting stop on the jacket. Then the circular bulge presses tightly into the sealing insert and it locks the jacket to the writing instrument so that the entire arrangement is kept in that position until the cap is removed. A signal slider is attached with the sealing insert which is extendable out from the end of the jacket in order to signal in its extended position the proper seating of the cap on the writing instrument. Erroneous indications of a sealed state are prevented with our invention.

  • Patent number: 4740335
Abstract: A process for producing a surface-embossed, deep-drawn article suitable for an interior finish or lining of a motor vehicle, for example, starts with a partially-crystalline polymeric material, i.e., one having crystallites, in film form. The film-form material is heated to a temperature below the melting point of its crystallites an surface embossed. The embossed material is then cooled and crosslinked. The crosslinking is preferably done by irradiating the cooled material with a high-energy beam such as an accelerated electron beam, for example. The cooled and crosslinked material is then reheated, this time to a temperature above the melting point of its crystallites, and deep drawn into the shape of the article.

  • Patent number: 4733586
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for the production of wicking tips for pens and markers in which the blanks, pointed at their ends, are first notched on opposite sides and are then cut through between the notches to form two tips from each blank. The invention simplifies the sharpening and dressing required of the tools which are used.

  • Patent number: 4627757
Abstract: An indicating cap for a writing instrument has an insert with a blind passage adapted to fit over the tip of e.g. a felt or fiber tip pen or marker and axially movable in a sleeve forming a cap between two limiting positions. One of these positions is defined by a spring detent shoulder against which a shoulder of the insert abuts when the cap is withdrawn from the writing implement. When the cap is thrust properly onto the writing implement the insert is pressed into its second position in which a pin of appropriate color is visible through an end of the sleeve where the projecting pin can be protected by a hood or basket.

  • Patent number: 4583875
Abstract: A writing instrument having a capability tip is formed by piercing a membrane between the mouth of the housing and the reservoir with a tool to provide an opening of the size and shape of the shank of the nib which is then introduced into the opening.

  • Patent number: 4309193
Abstract: The invention discloses an apparatus for maximizing the uniformity of distribution of gasification medium in a rotary grid generator. To insure proper input, a distribution head is rotatably mounted within the interior of the rotary grid, and the distribution head is connected by means of elastic input conduits to either openings which are directly connected with the reactor chamber, or to distribution chambers in the individual segments of the rotary grid. Through use of the apparatus, the formation of canals through preferential gas flow in the solid beds of pressure gas generators is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4037401
Abstract: A date adjusting mechanism for a timepiece includes a date ring and an operating shaft mounted for axial and rotational displacement. The shaft is axially shiftable into and from a date control position. A date control gear is mounted on the shaft. A correcting gear is continuously connected to the date control gear. The correcting gear is shiftable toward and away from driving engagement with the date ring. A stop lever is rotatably mounted to the frame of the time piece. Linkage is provided for connecting the stop lever to the operating shaft to rotate the stop member into a position blocking movement of the correcting gear into driving engagement with the date ring when the operating shaft is axially displaced from its date control position.
