  • Patent number: 4364807
Abstract: A lead alloy anode for a cell for the electrowinning or electrolytic recovery of zinc consists of 0.05 to 0.25% by weight strontium and/or 0.05 to 0.1% by calcium in combination with 0.1 to 0.5 silver, balance lead. The cell is used in a method for the recovery of zinc at, for example, a current density of 160 to 630 amp/m.sup.2, a temperature of 30.degree. to 46.degree. C. and an electrolyte containing 40 to 70 g/l zinc and 165 to 220 g/l sulfuric acid.

  • Patent number: 4249720
Abstract: An apparatus for the continuous heat treatment of elongated metal objects, especially wire, by contacting the same with molten metal, usually lead, whereby a preheating tray containing the molten metal is followed by a quenching tray with a second bath through which the metal is passed in succession. The preheating tray containing the first metal bath is electrically insulated and partly immersed in the quenching bath while electric current is applied across the baths to resistively heat the metal between them.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 1979
Date of Patent: February 10, 1981
    Assignee: Trefilarbed S.A.
    Inventors: Karl Weyand, Gunter Stock
  • Patent number: 4049224
Abstract: Chain-link fencing consisting of a mesh of interlinked wire coils is flattened so as to have an overall thickness perpendicular to the plane of the mesh equal to between two and five times the diameter of the wire constituting the coils. Thereupon the flattened mesh is either rolled up into tight rolls, or is laid meander-fashion in a container. The mesh may be flattened by means of a platen press operating synchronously and immediately downstream of a fence-weaving machine that produces the mesh step-wise, or by a pair of rollers.
