Abstract: A hinge for an article of furniture has a mount which is attachable to a wall of the article. A hinge unit including a hinge arm and, optionally, a support for the arm is releasably connectible to the mount. To this end, the hinge unit is provided with a shaft which is receivable in a complementary recess of the mount. The hinge unit is further provided with a resilient tongue, and the tongue has a groove which cooperates with a projection on the mount to lock the hinge unit to the mount by snap action. A lever projects at an angle from both sides of the hinge unit, and the free end of each lever carries an arm which extends towards the tongue. An inclined protuberance is provided on either side of the tongue and each lever arm abuts a respective protuberance. The arrangement is such that, when the levers are urged towards one another, the lever arms cooperate with the protuberances to disengage the groove in the tongue from the projection on the mount.

Abstract: A furniture hinge has a hinge arm connectible to the body of a piece of furniture and a lever connectible to a closure for the furniture. The closure is movable between a closed position and an open position. A damping device is disposed between the hinge arm and the lever and includes a housing having a bellows-like first part and a second part secured to the hinge arm. A piston rides in the housing and divides it into first and second chambers. The piston is provided with flow channels which allow hydraulic fluid in the housing to flow between the first and second chambers. The piston is mounted on a rod which extends through, and is coupled to, the first housing part and is articulately connected to the lever. A sealing member likewise mounted on the rod is arranged to seal the flow channels upon movement of the closure to its closed position.

Abstract: The mounting plate which is mountable on a furniture body and on which the hinge arm of a furniture hinge is mounted is comprised of two parts, namely an upper part and a base plate which is mountable on the furniture body. The base plate engages in the center area in a recess (25) extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the upper part and is displaceably and lockably mounted therein. The base plate is provided with a threaded bore into which the threaded shaft of a mounting screw is screwed in so as to lock the upper part with respect to the base plate. The threaded shaft is guided through a slotted hole in the upper part, so that the upper part is transversely adjustable with respect to its longitudinal axis when the screw is released.

Abstract: A cabinet unit has an outer door pivotable relative to an outer portion of a furniture piece to define an outer cabinet, and an inner door pivotable relative to an inner portion of a furniture piece to define an inner cabinet, such as a refrigerator and the like, wherein in an open position of the inner door a gap is available between the inner door and the inner portion of the furniture piece to provide an access to mounting and adjusting screws of a hinge of the outer door.

Abstract: A cabinet with double doors consisting of an inner door and an outer door. The inner door is mounted in such a way as to swing on the hinge axis of the shell of a refrigerator or freezer inside the cabinet and open or close the appliance. A coupling mechanism between the outer and inner doors and the shell of the appliance is associated with the hinges. The coupling mechanism has a drive assembly mounted on the inner door in such a way as to pivot around an axis parallel to that of the hinges. The coupling mechanism is coupled to the shell of the appliance and to the outer door in such a way that the outer door is forced to one side and away from the axis of the hinges when the inner door is opened.

Abstract: A furniture hinge for two housing parts has a housing mounted on one furniture part, a hinge arm mounted on the other furniture part, two pivotable hinge plates pivotally connecting the housing with the hinge arm, a spring which forms a locking device, a cylinder-and-piston unit having a piston pivotally mounted on the hinge arm and a brake cylinder slidably movable relative to the piston under the action of a cam lever mounted on one of the hinge plates and arranged to move the brake cylinder relative to the piston, wherein the sliding surface of the brake cylinder and/or the piston has a friction-increasing coating.

Abstract: The open front of the housing of a cabinet is flanked by a vertical strip having a front surface and a second surface adjacent to the open front and making with the front surface an angle of 90 degrees. The strip carries a door panel one vertical marginal portion of which is coupled to the strip by one or more hinges each having a first leaf recessed into the marginal portion of the panel, a second leaf adjacent to the second surface of the strip, and a bracket which is secured to the strip and supports the second leaf. A first section of the bracket overlies a portion of the front surface of the strip, and a second section of the bracket overlies a portion of the second surface of the strip. The second section has holes for fasteners which connect the bracket to the strip. The two mutually inclined sections of the bracket reduce the likelihood of separation of the hinge from the housing.

Abstract: A piece of furniture has a door or panel swingably mounted by means of a hinge. An elongated biased stud is mounted on a wall of the furniture piece pivotable in such manner that its free end engages the hinge and urges the door to closed position only during the initial increment of the door's movement to open position and the final increment of the door's movement to closed position.
