Abstract: A passive pulse generator can be connected to a line in order to activate a safety fitting in a nuclear power plant. The line can be closed by a closure element. In the event of a temperature change in the vicinity of the pulse generator, the closure element is actuated solely as a result of a thermal volume change of an actuating element, so that the line is released. The pulse generator therefore activates the fitting passively, without additional control pulses. A method for activating a fitting with a passive pulse generator is also provided.

Abstract: An absorption structure for absorbing neutrons and a method for producing the absorption structure include placing a neutron-absorbing material between a first sheet and a second sheet. The sheets are joined together and a plurality of voids is formed between them for receiving the neutron-absorbing material. At least one of the sheets has struts or bulges forming the plurality of voids and creating a material bond with the second sheet. The introduction of the neutron-absorbing material into the voids with a virtually arbitrary concentration also makes it possible to adjust the absorption capacity of the absorption structure within wide limits.

Abstract: Device for transporting radioactive material having a lifting mechanism displaceable along a travel path, includes an operator's cab shielded against radiation and displaceable with the lifting mechanism along the travel path, a control console for actuating the lifting mechanism, the control console being disposed in and displaceable with the cab, filter means through which the cab is ventilated with filtered air, and means for testing the ventilating air for freedom thereof from radiation.
