  • Patent number: 6834220
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-propelling vehicle which first, and possibly with the aid of a driver, drives along a selected route from a starting point to a destination, whereby the vehicle receives position signals from a positioning system and stores said signals in a data memory. The vehicle first receives an associated current position signal from the positioning system and at a point of departure when the vehicle subsequently and automatically drives along exactly the same selected route. Said signal is compared to the position of the starting point. If the positions do not match, the evaluation device calculates the direction towards and the distance to the starting point, whereupon the vehicle drives along this route. The direction and the distance to the next stored position are subsequently calculated using successively received current position data. The vehicle drives along the corresponding route.

  • Patent number: 6142251
Abstract: An automotive golf caddy has a high frequency position finder and an ultrasonic position finder. When the caddy is placed in readiness by means of a manual transmitter, it first determines whether it receives ultrasonic signals from the manual transmitter. If that is not the case, it determines by high frequency position finding the direction of the manual transmitter and approaches the transmitter on a straight path at a relatively high speed. When the caddy enters the ultrasonic position finding range, it is automatically switched to ultrasonic position finding, follows the manual transmitter even in curves and continuously determines its distance from the transmitter. When a predetermined minimum distance is reached, the motors of the caddy are switched off. It will only follow the transmitter automatically once again when the transmitter reaches a predetermined distance from the caddy.

  • Patent number: 5963150
Abstract: A golf cart or caddy and a mobile transmitting device carried by a golf player are each provided with a receiving and evaluating device equipped with a computer for a satellite-controlled positioning system. The two receiving and evaluating devices calculate the respective positions of the golf player and the golf caddy from the signals cyclically received from the satellite system. The mobile transmitting device is provided with a high-frequency manual transmitter which transmits, also cyclically, the positions of the golf player to the golf caddy. The computer of the golf caddy calculates direction and distance of the golf player and stores the data up to the time when the caddy follows the stored path upon a signal. The golf caddy stops at a predetermined distance from the golf player.
