  • Publication number: 20210032502
Abstract: Brittle acrylic films are made from impact-modified polyalkyl (meth)acrylate and are useful in forgery prevention labels containing the same. The films can be advantageously prepared by extrusion and, depending on the desired purpose, can be designed to be translucent or entirely non-transparent e.g. white. Ideally, the brittle acrylic films and the forgery prevention labels have no intended break points such as slits, perforation etc.

  • Patent number: 10611130
Abstract: An extruded matt foil has at least one layer in which glass beads are uniformly distributed in a polymer matrix with at least one fluoropolymer and at least one further layer. The matt foil has a particularly high UV-resistance, a high weathering resistance and excellent mechanical properties. Therefore, the foil is highly suitable for surface-protection of materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and for use in high-pressure laminates (HPLs).

  • Publication number: 20080138610
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for production of foils or sheets composed of thermoplastic with electrically conductive coating by means of the following steps of a process: a) single-side coating of a backing foil composed of a thermoplastic with a lacquer composition based on silicon and comprising inorganic semiconductor particles, b) extrusion of an extrudate of a thermoplastic, c) bringing the coated side of the backing foil and the extrudate of the extruded thermoplastic together in the nip of the polishing stack, d) peeling of the backing foil from the composite, whereupon the coating of the backing foil remains on the extruded thermoplastic, e) if appropriate, cooling of the plastics web to ambient or room temperature. The invention further relates to the extruded and coated foils and sheets, and also to their uses.

  • Publication number: 20070197703
Abstract: The present invention relates to a foil encompassing at least one PMMA layer coloured with a yellow anthraquinone dye, where the chromaticity coordinates (x;y) in the CIE 1931 Standard Colorimetric System of the PMMA layer are within the range of 0.4?x?0.54 and 0.44?y?0.54, where the concentration of the yellow dye of the PMMA layer is at least 3% by weight, based on the total weight of the PMMA layer.

  • Publication number: 20060209403
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rear-projection screen encompassing at least one light-scattering polymethyl methacrylate layer, which comprises a polymethyl methacrylate matrix and spherical scattering particles (A) and spherical particles (B) with a different median particle size V50, where the spherical scattering particles (A) have a median size V50 in the range from 0.1 to 40 ?m, the difference between the refractive index of the spherical scattering particles (A) and that of the polymethyl methacrylate matrix being in the range from 0.02 to 0.2, where the spherical particles (B) have a median size V50 in the range from 10 to 150 ?m, the difference between the refractive index of the spherical particles (B) and that of the polymethyl methacrylate matrix being in the range from 0 to 0.

  • Patent number: 5149481
Abstract: An extruded, smooth finished solid sheet or film of thickness <1 mm is prepared from a thermoplastic plastic having a glass transition temperature >50.degree. C., by extruding the plastic in the thermoplastic state through a slot nozzle to form a flat extruded strip, which is introduced into the roll gap of a roll stack having a smoothed upper roll and a lower roll, with the upper roll being maintained at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic plastic and with the lower roll being maintained at a temperature in the plastic state domain of the thermoplastic plastic, and, after exiting the roll gap, the extruded strip is moved resting on a smooth-finished endless belt which passes around the lower roll, thereby smoothing the surface of the strip; and cooling said extruded strip below the glass transition temperature.
