Patent number: 10677006Abstract: A downhole vibration assembly includes a valve positioned above a rotor that is disposed at least partially within a stator. The rotor is operatively suspended within an inner bore of a housing and configured to rotate within the stator as a fluid flows through the vibration assembly. The valve includes a rotating valve segment and a stationary valve segment each including at least one fluid passage. The rotating valve segment rotates with a rotation of the rotor. In an open position, the fluid passages of the valve segments are aligned and a fluid flows through the valve. In a restricted position, the fluid passages of the valve segments are partially or completely unaligned, thereby temporarily restricting the fluid flow through the valve to create a pressure pulse. The unobstructed pressure pulse is transmitted through the drill string or coiled tubing above the valve.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2017Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Rival Downhole Tools LCInventors: Gunther H H von Gynz-Rekowski, Steven Samuel Mitchell, Curtis E. Patent number: 9803689Abstract: Methods for manufacturing bearings and wear resistant surfaces usable in various downhole tools are described herein. A housing is provided. A laser configured for insertion into the housing, such as an inner diameter laser, is used to connect a fusible material to the inner surface of the housing or an insert disposed therein to form a hard facing layer on the inner surface. Simultaneously or independently, the laser can be used to connect the fusible material to the outer surface of a mandrel within the housing to form a second hard facing layer. The present methods thereby produce durable radial bearings having extended operational life, which can be produced within a bearing housing, or externally for transport and installation in existing bearing housings.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2008Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignees: United Machine Works, Inc., Ashmin, L.C.Inventors: Gunther H H Von Gynz-Rekowski, Joseph Edward Adams, III, Kevin Anthony Tomczak

Patent number: 7882638Abstract: A process for manufacturing a bearing. The bearing may be used in a tool disposed within a bore hole. The process comprises providing a tubular sleeve and applying a hard facing material on the outer diameter of the tubular sleeve so that the hard facing material is fused onto the outer diameter, and thereafter applying a material layer on the outer diameter so that the material layer is fused onto the outer diameter. The method further includes machining the outer diameter so that a portion of the material layer is removed, and then machining the inner diameter so that only the hard facing material is left as an inner diameter. The method further includes machining the outer diameter and the inner diameter in order to form the bearing. In the most preferred embodiment, the method further includes placing the bearing into a housing, and inserting a mandrel into the bearing, and wherein a hard coating of the mandrel abuts the bearing. A mud motor for rotating a bit in a well bore is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2005Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Ashmin LCInventor: Gunther H H von Gynz-Rekowski
