  • Patent number: 4726557
Abstract: A mounting plate for belt tensioning or guide rollers, or the like, which includes an attachment place generally more centrally disposed along the mounting plate at which the roller is supported and at least two tensioning places at opposite sides of the attachment place for the roller. The plate being attached to a mounting housing at the tensioning places. The plate having resting surfaces protruding from it toward the housing to which the plate is mounted and the resting surface in the attachment place in the region of the tensioning roller protrudes to a greater height than the resting surfaces at the tensioning places for assuring support of the roller against the housing. In another version, the mounting plate is slightly V shaped or concave, with the two tensioning places being on one arm of the V and the attachment place in the region of the tensioning roller on the other arm of the V.

  • Patent number: 4613239
Abstract: A solid window cage for a cylindrical roller bearing is provided. The pockets for the cylindrical rollers are defined between two axially spaced end rings and by circumferentially spaced apart webs which join the end rings. On each web facing into each pocket, a respective roller holding ledge is developed. The ledge extends in the circumferential direction of the cage into the respective pocket for preventing the roller from falling radially from the pocket. The ledge has an axially central section which projects in the circumferential direction of the cage further into the pocket, and the sides of the ledge adjacent the central section gradually decrease in height in the circumferential direction of the cage toward the end rings, giving the ledge an either dome or trapezoidal shape. The cage has undercuts extending radially through the cage at the transitions between the end rings and the webs.

  • Patent number: 4490128
Abstract: An annular wheel of plastic is rotatably mounted on a central bearing. The wheel has a generally H-shaped cross-section, with radially outward and radially inward arms joined by a radial crossbar. An array of stiffening ribs at various circumferential locations around the crossbar of the H-shaped cross-section stiffen the wheel. To prevent the peripheral travel surface of the outward arm of the wheel from developing undulations during cooling following initial molding of the plastic wheel, the ribs have recesses in their opposite, axially outwardly directed sides. Dimensional relationships between the axial width and circumferential thickness of the rib, and the peripheral surface of the wheel and the thickness of the crossbar of the wheel are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4474562
Abstract: A belt tensioner has an elongated support bar formed with a transversely throughgoing aperture and an annular inwardly directed lip around the aperture. A hardened metallic inner bearing race is centered on and elongated along a bearing axis and has one end extending into the aperture and formed with a circumferential radially outwardly open groove in which the lip is snugly fitted. An outer race is mounted on and coaxial with the other end of the inner race and is supported thereon by means of roller-bearing elements. The nonmalleable one end of the inner race does not need to be deformed to secure it in the support bar; instead the support bar, which is normally made of malleable steel, is deformed to make the connection.

  • Patent number: 4125298
Abstract: A generally cylindrical metallic member of hardened steel, especially a race for a journal bearing, is fitted into or around a supporting element of relatively deformable metal, such as structural steel, having a face perpendicular to the cylinder axis. The hardened metallic member has a peripheral groove into which some of the material of the supporting element is extruded by indenting the perpendicular face, preferably by a circular array of notches.
