  • Publication number: 20040242234
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the position of a base station in a mobile radio network. The aim of the invention is to provide a reliable method for the rapid identification of the position of a base station with high precision, independent of prepublished plans. For this purpose, the position of the location, the number of a frame of a signal received by the base station and the time of receipt are determined at least in three locations and the position of the base station is established on the basis of these data. The invention further relates to a corresponding device for carrying out the inventive method.

  • Publication number: 20040071201
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for testing a mobile radio system with a test transmitter (11), whereby the mobile radio system has at least one fixed station, which transmits in a first frequency range, and has a multitude of mobile stations, which can transmit and receive, whereby a mobile station transmits in a second frequency range. The aim of the invention is to achieve a simple and cost-effective determination of the radio illumination and radio communications quality for an already established mobile radio system and even for the designing and modification of such a mobile radio system. To this end, the test transmitter (11) has a transmitting device that transmits signals in the first and second frequency ranges to at least one measuring receiver (12).

  • Publication number: 20010026150
Abstract: In a method for measuring the receiver sensitivity of communication devices provided for operation in a digital communication net, wherein the fulfillment of a first criterion is tested at a pre-determined data transmission rate and at a pre-determined reception level, a substantial increase of the testing speed is realized by conducting the testing at a higher data transmission rate than the pre-determined data transmission rate at the pre-determined reception level, wherein the fulfillment of a second criterion is tested, and wherein the second criterion is determined from the first criterion.

  • Publication number: 20010018333
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing mobile communication devices utilize the device's frequency hopping capabilities to reduce the time required to measure operational parameters of the device at frequencies across an operational frequency band. A device tester first defines a hopping list of test frequency channels and transmits the hopping list and command signals to the mobile communication device for testing a set of operational parameters of the device at the test frequencies. The mobile communication device then measures all of the parameters at all of the frequencies by repeatedly sequentially hopping through the test frequencies in accordance with the hopping list. Since the period between frequency hops is shorter than the time required to complete measurement of a parameter at a particular frequency, each parameter measurement at each test frequency is obtained by combining measurement results of plural bursts at each test frequency.

  • Patent number: 6233437
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing mobile communication devices involve utilizing the device's frequency hopping capabilities to substantially reduce the time required to measure operational parameters of the device at a plurality of frequencies across the device's operational frequency band. Prior to conducting the multi-frequency test, a device tester defines a hopping list of test frequency channels and transmits the hopping list and command signals to the mobile communication device for testing a set of operational parameters of the device at all of the test frequencies. The mobile communication device then measures all of the parameters at all of the frequencies by repeatedly sequentially hopping through the test frequencies in accordance with the hopping list.
