  • Patent number: 6444055
Abstract: A metallic cast material for friction bodies in acceleration or deceleration devices, particularly in the brake or clutch systems of road or rail vehicles, is produced from the iron/aluminum/carbon tertiary group so that the material is largely in the intermetallic phase having an ordered crystal lattice structure, and free carbon in lamellar, sphoroidal or vermicular form is present therein. The proportion of aluminum in the alloy is between 20 and 28% by weight, preferably 24% by weight. The material may be melted and cast open to the air. Solid or internally ventilated brake discs are mentioned as appropriate friction bodies. The friction bodies are lighter, more resistant to corrosion and wear, have a higher alternate bending fatigue strength and are at least as easily workable as previously known friction bodies made from ferrous materials.

  • Patent number: 6056634
Abstract: Apparatus for applying a thin liquid coat to muscle meat comprises a conduit of generally constant cross-section along which the muscle meat is forced under pressure. The conduit has an entry port for the introduction of the liquid, and fixed structure is provided for promoting the relative movement of the meat chunks within the conduit to cause the liquid material to be smeared over the surface of the meat chunks. Suitably the fixed structure comprises at least one zone wherein the cross-section differs from that of the conduit. The cross-section of the zone may be characterized by one or more of an increased cross-section area, or by a decreased cross-sectional area, or by a different aspect ratio. The liquid may be one part of a two part settable adhesive; the other part of which is applied to the meat separately from the one part.

  • Patent number: 5421945
Abstract: The mass preservation of archives by melting on them a binder combination reinforced with a nonwoven or woven fabric, in which a woven or nonwoven fabric on a supporting belt or supporting roller is impregnated with an aqueous, pollutant-free, self-cross-linking and/or not self-cross-linkable and/or pre-cross-linked dispersion, free of volatile solvents, of a thermoplastic binder with a high film-forming temperature above 60.degree. C., into which dispersion waxes or paraffins, with a concentration--based on the solids portion of the dispersion--of 3 to 10% by weight have been incorporated by hot precipitation, dried and, in conjunction with the substrate that is to be preserved, fused under the action of pressure and temperature by a brief temperature shock at a temperature appreciably exceeding the film-forming temperature to a substrate-sealing film with embedded nonwoven or woven fabric.

  • Patent number: 5221144
Abstract: A resealable package using zipper material and a corresponding method and apparatus are disclosed. In the package, the zipper material beads terminate entirely inboard of the outer periphery of the sealed area. The package is formed by forming a lateral loop in a first one of the webs, positioning the zipper material along the first web crossing the loop substantially at a right angle, cutting the zipper material in the region of the loop, and then straightening the first web, thereby creating a gap between the cut ends of the zipper material, then bonding the second web to the first web to form a package with a sealed area in the gap. In the preferred embodiments of the apparatus, the lateral loop forming means has at least one transversely oriented loop forming bar moveable into and away from corresponding loop forming groove(s) in a table along which one of the webs is advanced.

  • Patent number: 5107966
Abstract: A brake disk for motor vehicle disk brakes, comprising a disk rim with at least one friction ring, and an inner cup on which the disk rim is fastened. The disk rim and the inner cup consist of cast materials. In order that the inner cup and the disk rim can be produced more simply and correspond better to the different thermal and mechanical stresses, the inner cup preferably consists of a material of high tensil strength than the material of the disk rim. The disk rim is fastened to the cup by means of ribs provided on the inner cup, the material of the disk rim positively clasping the ribs in a radial direction during casting.
