  • Patent number: 4947559
Abstract: An air press for use in drying web material, such as corrugated board, characterized by a plurality of individual plenums pressing a double-backer belt against the web material as it is being transported over a plurality of steam chests for drying. Each of the plenums is provided with brushes for sealing the periphery of the plenum relative to the belt and has an individual blower and an individual venting door so that both the humidity of the air in the plenum, as well as the pressure, can be individually controlled.

  • Patent number: 4041819
Abstract: Apparatus for producing sheets of corrugated board from a moving web includes stationary upper and lower slitter devices for slitting the web longitudinally into a plurality of narrow webs and means for leading each of these narrow webs to a selected one of three cutoff devices located at different heights. The means for leading the narrow webs to the cutoff includes stationary director-support means and presettable automatic lead-in table elements that are selectively operable between three positions. The lead-in table elements are also operable as a group to a raised position wherein they are retracted so as to permit a workman to clear jams or otherwise service the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4026176
Abstract: Slitting apparatus for trimming the edges of a web of corrugated board and longitudinally cutting the web into a plurality of narrow webs is constructed with selectively operable fluid operated means that clamps the working heads in adjusted positions along the length of their respective drive shafts. The fluid operated means includes a plurality of spring steel pressure bars extending parallel to the length of each shaft and disposed within different grooves thereof, with each pressure bar being operatively positioned to clamp a plurality of heads in operating positions by engaging keys secured to these heads. The keys extend beyond the faces of the heads and for each of the heads include notches that provide clearance for the extending portions of the keys secured to adjacent heads.
