Abstract: The new aromatic ethers of the formulae ##STR1## can be used for the preparation of plastics which, in turn, can be processed further to give moulded articles, films, foils and filaments. The plastics prepared from the new aromatic ethers are distinguished by exceptional dimensional stability under heat.

Abstract: Mixtures containinga) thermoplastic polycarbonates based on diphenols corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl and c.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl,m is an integer of from 4 to 7,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be individually selected for each X and independently of one another represent hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl andX represents carbon, with the proviso that, at at least one atom X, both R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are alkyl, andb) elastomers or other thermoplastics than those of component a) and, optionally,c) standard additives,processes for their preparation, and the use thereof for the production of films.

Abstract: Polyether sulphones based on diphenols corresponding to the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently represent hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.5 or C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl, or C.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl; m represents an integer of from 4 to 7;R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, may be selected individually for each X and independently represent hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, andX represents carbon;with the proviso that, on at least one atom X, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 both represent alkyl,the production thereof, films made from these polyether sulfones, composite films with other plastic materials and application of the films in gas permeation.

Abstract: Mixtures containing(a) 5 to 70% by weight polycarbonate based on 2-(4-hydroxphenyl)-2-(3-hydroxphenyl)-propane and(b) 95 to 30% by weight polycarbonate based on bis-2,2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylphenyl)propane, the sum of the percentages by weight of components (a)+(b) being 100% by weight.

Abstract: The new aromatic ether imides corresponding to the following formula ##STR1## may be used for the production of plastics which in turn may be worked up into moulded articles, films, sheet products and filaments. The plastics produced from the new aromatic ether imides are distinguished by their exceptional dimensional stability under heat.

Abstract: Dihydroxydiphenyl cycloalkanes corresponding to the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl and C.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl,m is an integer of from 4 to 7,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, individually selectable for each X, independently of one another represent hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylandX represents carbonwith the proviso that, at at least one atom X, both R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are alkyl, a process for their production, their use for the production of high molecular weight polycarbonates, the polycarbonates made from dihydroxydiphenyl cycloalkane of formula (I) and films made from these polycarbonates.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of thermoplastic homopolycarbonates of 3,3'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether in quantities of 3% by weight to 30% by weight for modifying filsm of other thermoplastics than the thermoplastic homopolycarbonates of 3,3'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether, to a process for modifying films of these other thermoplastics, to the films obtainable by this process and to mixtures containing the homopolycarbonates mentioned and the other thermoplastics.
