Some embodiments provide a “push” method that includes a client computer repeatedly requesting data from a peripheral device to which it is connected. The client computer is connected to a remote server via a network connection, and it does not need to wait for a data request from the remote server to start or continue making requests to the peripheral device. This allows the client computer to redirect any response packets of data received from the peripheral device to a queue on the remote server as soon as they are made available by the peripheral device.
