  • Publication number: 20250080683
Abstract: A computationally efficient way is provided to enable background adjustment based on real time, automatic background detection. In one form, the real time detected paper white is used to dynamically adjust 1D LUTs that map the input pixel values before accessing a 3D LUT that stores the weights between the original input pixel value and white (e.g., 255, 128, 128 in L*a*b*). The more complex calculation of generating coefficients in the 3D LUT is made independent of the paper white point. In one form, the white point is calculated based on the histogram of the image collected from the lead edge or the full page.

  • Publication number: 20250054323
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying the authenticity of a printed document are disclosed. The methods include receiving an identification of a portion of the printed document that includes a document signature, and receiving a document signature corresponding to the printed document from a data store. The document signature includes images of one or more first satellite droplet patterns (SDPs) that each include a plurality of ink satellite droplets that were randomly formed during printing of a print image on the printed document. The methods further include receiving an image of the portion of the printed document, analyzing the image to identify one or more second SDPs in the printed document, and authenticating the printed document by determining whether at least some the one or more first SDPs match a corresponding one or more second SDPs.

  • Patent number: 12112077
Abstract: A print configuration system will receive, from a first sensing modality, a first message indicating that a user has entered a first region where a print device is located. The system will access a profile for the user to identify a first configuration task, and it will cause the print device to perform the first configuration task. The system will later receive, from a second sensing modality that is different from the first sensing modality, a second message indicating that the user has entered a second region. The second region includes the print device and is a subset of the first region. In response to receiving the second message, the system will cause the print device to perform a second task that is different from the first configuration task.

  • Publication number: 20240242387
Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding data in a machine-readable image (e.g., an artificial fingerprint) are disclosed. The methods include segmenting a plurality of bits included in a bit stream to be encoded into a plurality of blocks such that each block includes two or more of the plurality of bits. The plurality of blocks are used to generate a minutiae template comprising a plurality of minutiae points each of which is representative of a local ridge discontinuity in a fingerprint, and is associated with a location and an orientation. An artificial fingerprint is generated from the minutiae template, and stored in association with the bit stream. The artificial fingerprint encodes the bit stream and comprises a plurality of ridges and a plurality of valleys.

  • Publication number: 20240242532
Abstract: Systems and methods of extracting information encoded in a machine-readable image (e.g., an artificial fingerprint) are disclosed. The methods include receiving a machine-readable image and generating a minutiae template from the machine-readable image. The minutiae template includes a plurality of minutiae points, each being representative of a local ridge discontinuity in a human fingerprint. The methods further include identifying, for each of the plurality of minutiae points, a minutia point orientation and a minutia point type, and retrieving, from a data store, a plurality of blocks associated with the identified minutiae point orientations and minutiae point types where each block includes two or more bit values. The retrieved plurality of blocks are concatenated to generate a bit stream encoded in the machine-readable image.

  • Patent number: 11695894
Abstract: A system and method provide for automated evaluation of reference point pairs. For each of a set of reference point pairs in an input color space, a straight line connecting the reference points is sampled to generate a set of sampled points. Each of the set of sampled points in the input color space is converted to a sampled point in an output color space. For each of a set of color separations in the output color space, discontinuities are identified, based on the set of sampled points in the output color space. Candidate reference point pairs are identified in the set of reference point pairs for which at least one discontinuity is identified. The candidate reference point pairs can be validated by printing test sweeps, which are each derived from a respective set of sampled points in the output color space, and identifying contour artifacts in the printed test sweeps.

  • Patent number: 10122893
Abstract: According to exemplary methods, a processor of a printing device determines color values out of a first colorant combination using marking materials for standard colorants and marking materials for one or more extended gamut colors. The extended gamut color has colorants other than the standard colorants. Responsive to the first colorant combination including color values for each of a pair of two complementary colors, the processor calculates a second colorant combination that produces the same human-perceivable color as the first colorant combination. The second colorant combination includes only one color of the pair of two complementary colors. The printing device produces output using the second colorant combination for the standard colorants and the extended gamut color.

  • Patent number: 9924074
Abstract: Method, system, and graphical user interface for enabling optimal colorant job programming. A graphical user interface displays a plurality of gamut mode selectable features. One or more of the gamut mode selectable features can be selected for image processing of an image. A graphical image can be displayed within the next of the user interface based on image processing of the image, and in response to selection of a gamut mode selectable feature. The resulting displayed graphical image with the user interface can demonstrate to a user the benefit of utilizing additional colorant on the image particular pixels in the graphical image, which can benefit from the additional colorant.

  • Patent number: 9876943
Abstract: A system and method for color management of a color printer for correcting color drift using a single unified calibration tone reproduction curve (TRC). The unified calibration TRC may be applied to destination profiles for all halftones during printing. When printer drift occurs, only the unified calibration TRC is recalibrated to create a new unified calibration TRC which is subsequently applied to the destination profiles for all color halftones during printing to correct the color output of the color printer.

  • Patent number: 9706085
Abstract: A system and method for automatic selection of at least one spot color to be processed by a digital image press includes identifying process colorants to determine principal and extended gamuts thereof. Spot color recipes of the principal and extended gamuts are retrieved from a spot color library, along with a set of attributes corresponding to use of colorants by the digital image press. For each spot color recipe, a combined attribute score is calculated relating to the principal gamut and the extended gamut, spot color recipe of the extended gamut or principal gamut is then identified for use based upon which has the higher combined attribute score. The spot color library is then updated in accordance with the identified recipe for production of each spot color. Print jobs are then output with the appropriate spot color recipe automatically selected.
