  • Patent number: 6322397
Abstract: A power jack (1) comprises a housing (10), a conductive pin (40) extending longitudinally through a first chamber (121) of the housing, two contacts (20), (30) functioning as a switch and received in the housing, and a spring member (50) received in a second chamber (123) which is located below and in communication with the first chamber. The spring member includes a planar base (51) secured in the second chamber and a resilient finger (53) protruding into the first chamber. The finger provides an engaging section (54) at a free end thereof for pressing against an inserted complementary connector (200), thereby increasing a normal force applied by the power jack on the complementary connector. The spring member establishes only a mechanical connection with the complementary connector. An arm (34) of the contact (30) also exerts a force against the complementary connector, further increasing the normal force between the power jack and the complementary connector.

  • Patent number: 6251430
Abstract: Sustained release drug formulations contain the pharmaceutical itself and a three component release rate controlling matrix composition. The three components of the matrix composition are (1) water insoluble polymer, such as ethyl cellulose, (2) pH dependent gelling polymer, such as sodium alginate, and (3) a pH independent gelling polymer, such as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. The drug release rate can be adjusted by changing the amount of one or more of these components of the composition.

  • Patent number: 6234839
Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises an insulative housing defining a plurality of long and short contact receiving slots and a plurality of corresponding long and short contacts received in the corresponding long and short contact receiving slots. Each slot comprises a horizontal passage and a vertical passage. A notch is defined on a front end of a supporting wall of the horizontal passage of the long contact receiving slot. A cantilever member upwardly extends from a bottom of the notch for interfering with and applying elastic pressure on an embossment of the long contact thus assuring proper orientation of the long contact in the housing.

  • Patent number: 6217386
Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises an insulative housing, a plurality of grounding contacts and a plurality of shells. Each contact comprises an engaging portion forming an S-shaped spring arm punched out of a plane thereof and bent backward and extending in a longitudinal direction. The spring arm of the contact resiliently interferingly fits with a distal end of a retention tab of the shell, in such manner that the grounding contacts can easily connect with shells to produce effective shielding.

  • Patent number: 6210220
Abstract: An electrical connector of the present invention comprises an insulative housing, a front shell, a pair of locking posts and a pair of integral-formed boardlocks. The insulative housing defines a pair of receiving recesses for engaging with the pair of boardlocks. Each receiving recess comprises a first slot and a second slot separated by a retaining body formed by the housing in the receiving recess. The pair of boardlocks each comprise a body section defining a screw portion used to function as a nut, a resilient section received in the first slot and abutting a rearward surface of a front wall of the housing, which is used to function as a washer, and a board-locking section retained in the second slot. Thus the boardlocks are adapted for simplifying the manufacture and assembly thereof and reducing the cost of production, compared with the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6083532
Abstract: Depot drug formulations include the pharmaceutical itself and a three component release rate controlling matrix composition. The three components of the matrix composition are (1) a pH dependent gelling polymer such as an alginate component, (2) an enteric polymer component, such as Eudragit.RTM. L or S, and (3) a pH independent gelling polymer, such as hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose or polyethylene oxide. The drug release rate can be adjusted by changing the amount of one or more of these components of the composition.

  • Patent number: 5695781
Abstract: Verapamil depot drug formulations include the pharmaceutical itself and a three component release rate controlling matrix composition. The three components of the matrix composition are (1) an alginate component, such as sodium alginate, (2) an enteric polymer component, such as methacrylic acid copolymer, and (3) a pH independent gelling polymer, such as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or polyethyleneoxide. The drug release rate can be adjusted by changing the amount of one or more of these components of the composition.

  • Patent number: 5543099
Abstract: The subject invention is a process to manufacture a sustained release pharmaceutical tablet. The process includes granulation of inactive ingredients, such as hydroxypropyl cellulose, with active ingredients, such as nifedipine; followed by micronization of the granules. Additional granulation of further active or inactive ingredients is done with or without the micronized granules formed in the first step. All of the granules are then dried if necessary, lubricated, and compressed into tablets which slowly release the active ingredient over a controlled length of time.
