  • Publication number: 20180020962
Abstract: A low-cost compact fiberless diffuse speckle contrast flowmeter includes a small laser diode and a 2-dimensional imaging device such as a charge coupled device (CCD) or complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) for directly contacting the tissue and measuring a parameter such as blood flow in a deep/thick volume of tissue (up to 10 mm depth). The small laser diode is fixed at a certain distance (0 to 20 mm) from the imaging device and directly contacts the tissue. Light emitted from the laser diode penetrates through the tissue and reflects back to the imaging device without passing through any lenses or fibers. One or more additional laser diodes may be added for producing light at different wavelengths, and the combination of measurements taken by the imaging device at the different wavelengths allows for measuring additional parameters, such as both blood flow and blood oxygenation.

  • Patent number: 9861319
Abstract: The present invention provides for three-dimensional reflectance diffuse optical imaging of deep tissue blood flow distribution that removes the need for probe-tissue contact, thereby allowing for such technology to be applied to sensitive, vulnerable, damaged, or reconstructive tissue. The systems utilize noncontact application and detection of near-infrared light through optical lens and detection through a linear array or two-dimensional array of avalanche photodiodes or a two-dimensional array of detectors provided by charge-coupled-device (CCD). Both further feature a finite-element-method (FEM) based facilitation to provide for three-dimensional flow image reconstruction in deep tissues with arbitrary geometries.

  • Patent number: 9824913
Abstract: The invention provides an isolation structure and a manufacturing method thereof for a high-voltage device in a high-voltage BCD process, the isolation structure comprising: a semiconductor substrate having a first type of doping; an epitaxial layer having a second type of doping over the semiconductor substrate, wherein the first type of doping is opposite to the second type of doping; an isolation region having the first type of doping, wherein the isolation region extends through the epitaxial layer into the semiconductor substrate, and wherein the isolation region has a doping concentration on the same order as a doping concentration of the epitaxial layer; a field oxide layer over the isolation region. This invention effectively isolates the epitaxial island where the BCD high-voltage device is located, thereby increasing the breakdown voltage of the high-voltage device in the BCD process.

  • Patent number: 9624317
Abstract: A macromolecular emulsifier with switchable surface activity, and use thereof for preparation of polymer latex is disclosed. By using the macromolecular emulsifier with switchable surface activity as an emulsifier, a reversibly coagulable and re-dispersible polymer latex can be prepared by emulsion polymerization. The polymer latex can achieve the coagulation of latex particles by heating and aerating with nitrogen, air, inert gas and/or adding a small amount of alkali solution; the coagulated latex particles can be restored and re-dispersed into stable latex by aerating with carbon dioxide and/or adding a small amount of acid solution. The coagulation and re-dispersion process is reversible and is easy to control.

  • Patent number: 9343658
Abstract: A basic Spin-Orbit-Torque (SOT) structure with lateral structural asymmetry is provided that produces a new spin-orbit torque, resulting in zero-field current-induced switching of perpendicular magnetization. More complex structures can also be produced incorporating the basic structure of a ferromagnetic layer with a heavy non-magnetic metal layer having strong spin-orbit coupling on one side, and an insulator layer on the other side with a structural mirror asymmetry along the in-plane direction. The lateral structural asymmetry and new spin-orbit torque, in effect, replaces the role of the external in-plane magnetic field. The direction of switching is determined by the combination of the direction of applied current and the direction of symmetry breaking in the device.
